One arrested after man is critically hurt in Westport stabbing

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Police arrested one man on Wednesday afternoon following a stabbing that left the victim critically hurt in Westport. Investigators say the man attacked him with a pocket knife outside the Subway restaurant near Roanoke and Westport Road some time after 5 p.m.

  5. Westport Road and Southwest Trafficway is not a place you should have to worry about being stabbed at 5:30PM... After dark, maybe, but not during the evening rush hour when thousands of cars are passing by that intersection each hour. My bet is that it turns out to be a mentally unstable person who stabbed someone who looked at them wrong way or committed some other perceived slight.

    I normally advocate compassion for the homeless but you have to remember that a lot of the people begging at the street corners are just looking for drug money. Be careful and don't trust them. Watch your back and keep a good distance.

    If you feel guilty, give to your local charities and support the social safety net.
