TKC MUST SEE!!! LOCAL POWER PLAYER POLITICO THERESA GARZA EARNS PLACE AMONG KANSAS CITY CENTURIONS!!!

A denizen of our blog community with a keen eye notices the chesty former the Jackson County legislator, City Council Candidate and public figure power broker in a new role and earning an impressive Kansas City honor.

The word:

"Theresa Garza is in centurions leadership group for the next two years."

Proof of this high profile PUBLIC position of leadership . . .

More background . . .

"Since 1976, Centurions Leadership Program has earned its reputation as an unequaled training ground for future Kansas City leaders. Today, the two-year program has more than 80 active Centurions who join more than 1,200 alumni. We are a close-knit group of women and men from diverse backgrounds; expanding our personal and professional networks within the group and throughout the community we serve."

And so, we wish this local lady the best in her search for new colleagues who are much nicer and more accomplished that her previous pals as she begins another chapter in PUBLIC life.

You decide . . .

  3. Frank White III is also in her class, that should tell you everything you need to know about the Chamber's Centurions prgram. It's KC's equivalent of the "Who's Who Under 40" list, placements are made based upon who ponied up the money and/or has been doing the right favors.

  8. Apparently she's now working for Renovate America sling government-backed renovation loans. Has this woman ever had a job that didn't involve sucking on the government teat in some way? At least her daughter in Cali was whoring the honest way.

  9. Leave Theresa alone.

She just wanted to be on the council. Who cares is her residency was questionable and judge disqualified her from running?

It's her smile and all of those great selifes that are important.

She has a wonderful spirit and rules that govern elections don't apply to her. She is a queen. Theresa is all that's good and right with politics and the women who just want to serve.

I really do want the best for her and all of her past mistakes should be forgiven.

Can we get her to run for Mayor?

  13. Both she and the Centurions program are such ridiculous jokes that you couldn't make them up.
"A local politico public power player".
    Hahahahahaha!!

  14. It costs thousands of dollars to participate in the program. All you have to do is buy your way in.

  15. She's OK ..for a beaner.

  16. 11:50, you can't buy your way in. I know.
Most of the seats nowadays are legacy seats for the largest businesses in town, including the big law firms.

There is a selection committee, and it is tough if you come from a small business to earn one of those seats.

What really matters if if you do anything to actually BE a leader in this Leadership Training Program. Lately, they've done alot of stupid things like earn points for volunteering--eg handing out newspapers for the STAR on Royals opening day. One should not have to be TOLD to find a problem and fix it.

I was in the class of 1979. The program started in 1976 with six members. I enterprised a project called "84 in '84", which was 84 ways to make Kansas City better. Five Centurions put it together, I was publisher and editor. I convinced Mike Russell, owner of the KC Business Journal, to print 18,000 slick copies of a 16 page booklet, and insert it in the KCBJ.

The kids in today's Centurions classes still talk about "84 in '84." Yet they still haven't done a project that came close.

Now they take field trips eg to San Diego, so they can drink and learn about what other cities do, and network amongst themselves.

Only once since 1976 has a Centurion ever run for mayor of KCMO. Which was the whole point of Centurions, to train and develop leaders.

Mike Burke. Ran a dreadful campaign, refused to do appearances without his opponent, Sly James--who kicked his butt, and won. But in a way, Burke won, because he finagled the $35 million contract to develop the downtown hotel!

(I ran for Shawnee City Council, served 3 terms, including Council President. And ran, unsuccessfully for chairman of Johnson County's commissioners...against the developer's puppet, Annabeth Surbaugh. And Centurion Russ Johnson is on the KCMO Council, hoping to run for mayor.)

  17. Well, the Centurions Leadership Program had a good run. Lots of great memories. I am done supporting the program if they consider this person a potential leader in our city. She is assuredly plotting who's d*ck she has to suck.

  18. Do you know how much ass you have to kiss in order to be considered for membership in this group? Diverse, my Aunt Fanny. Look up the requirements and you'll see what I'm talking about.
