TKC EXCLUSIVE AND BREAKING NEWS!!! DOUBLE TROUBLE: KANSAS CITY POLITICOS SCRAMBLE TO FIND MORE BIG MONEY PATRONS AFTER DEMISE OF JAMES B. NUTTER AND NEAL PATTERSON!!!

Kansas City elected officials are mourning the loss of two of their biggest patrons this week.

While it would be callous, cruel and unkind to doubt the sincerity of political mourners . . . It's also a fact that James B. Nutter & Neal Patterson made a great many friends not only by way of their achievement but also because of their political alliances.

Point of fact . . . Neal Patterson didn't get to be an "Obamacare Billionaire" by rejecting the affections of top Democratic Party leaders . . .

We've already talked about Mr. Peanut and now must only note that they might as well bury the careers of Exec Frank White and Legislator Crystal Williams with him . . .

But this post isn't about these two rich dudes who hopefully found a way to take that money with them.

THE REAL STORY IS THAT MANY KANSAS CITY POLITICOS ARE NOW IN PANIC MODE AFTER LOSING TWO OF THEIR BIGGEST PATRONS!!!

The good news first . . .

Cerner and their top ranking execs are going to keep funneling cash to Kansas City politicos given their South KC Campus ambitions.

However, there's no replacing Mr. Peanut and his preoccupation with Jackson County. Insiders know that Mr. Peanut's heirs have long noted their aversion to the petty world of Kansas City elections and slap-fighting. The people most dependent on cash from Mr. Nutter are now some of the most desperate politicos in town and they could easily face challenges from upstart politicos according to KCMO insiders.

Meanwhile Mayor Sly cries crocodile tears for these two rich dudes whilst he hasn't really said much about the Kansas City homicide rate lately . . .

And so, many sympathies, condolences and tributes are not only powered by grief but also the desperate search for more donations as Kansas City election season approaches.

  1. Politicians are insincere. That is mostly correct.

But the implications for Jackson County are much bigger than you are letting on.

Does Frank know that without nutter's money he is a nobody?

That east side support will dry up real quick without a major funder. That is a FACT. What I don't like is that means the county is now up for sale!

    1. That's because they're mostly sociopaths with antisocial personality disorder, among other mental and mood affects.

  2. 7:40 is correct.
But the county and KCMO are always up for sale.
And there are more than enough players who will be happy to fill the funding void left by the departure of these two gentlemen.
After all, you contribute a few tens of thousands of dollars to campaigns and gain access to the public till worth billions.
    Cost/benefit?
    Unbeatable!
    Case in point?
    Burns and Mac.
Keep electing people whose main job is shoveling tax money out the door and there'll never be a shortage of folks looking for handouts.

  3. Was Patterson the guy who looked out of his office at 7 PM and noticed the parking lot was empty and had a fit about it?

    1. He sent out a scorching, demented email to all his managers that is now taught in business schools as an example of poor communication.

  5. 8:33: He must have thought his employees were not entitled to a life. Irony.

  6. I blame obama

  7. 8:27, you got it wrong. He commented on the number of empty parking spaces at 8 am and at 5 pm, and concluded that many employees were getting to work late and leaving early. No doubt he was right about that, but he scolded them in a company wide email which was not the right way to correct the problem.

  8. I wonder if he got a visit from the Ghost of Christmas past before his demise?

After all, he didn't take his billion dollars with him to...

  9. Bob-I must have the wrong guy. The one I read about complained about an empty parking lot at 7 PM. It wouldn't be unreasonable to complain about people coming in late and/or leaving early.

  10. ''We are getting less than 40 hours of work from a large number of our K.C.-based EMPLOYEES. The parking lot is sparsely used at 8 a.m.; likewise at 5 p.m. As managers -- you either do not know what your EMPLOYEES are doing; or you do not CARE. You have created expectations on the work effort which allowed this to happen inside Cerner, creating a very unhealthy environment. In either case, you have a problem and you will fix it or I will replace you.

''NEVER in my career have I allowed a team which worked for me to think they had a 40-hour job. I have allowed YOU to create a culture which is permitting this. NO LONGER.''

Mr. Patterson went on to list six potential punishments, including laying off 5 percent of the staff in Kansas City. ''Hell will freeze over,'' he vowed, before he would dole out more employee benefits. The parking lot would be his yardstick of success, he said; it should be ''substantially full'' at 7:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on weekdays and half full on Saturdays.

  11. A 4--hour workweek. How unreasonable! I'd tell Mr. Patterson to get a life, but it's a bit late for that.

  12. ^^^Should be 40-hour.

  14. My nephew worked at Cerner (left for a better suited and less travel gig) at a division that had "flex" time for some. So, wouldn't staggered work schedules and traveling employees affect the contents of the parking lots? What about car pools, or one car households who drop off the Cerner worker? If there's no "flex", nor "work remote" (from home, it's also called) for most staff, then Cerner sucks. What a Plutocrat's Plantation and Minion Manufacturer!

  15. Do you suppose employees who make upwards of 6 figure incomes carpool or live in 1 car households? They also don't live in south KC so JoCo and Lee's Summit are getting all the benefits of KCMO tax subsidy.

    1. I know a doctor's son who works at Cerner and many jobs don't pay fat jack six figures. Don't kid yourself, there's one car families in high debt distress from any one or more of the following: student loans, divorce, medical expenses, and "Keeping Up With The Other Owesies".

  17. The reason why Sly James is not commenting on the homicide problem is because in an older article he admitted he didn't know what to do about the crime in Kansas City. What he is doing is, ignoring the problem in hopes that it will go away.
Pretty scary guy and not qualified to handle the job!

  18. My friend worked for Sprint for 25 years and said that Cerner is just as big as a clusterfuck...basically inmates running the asylum

  21. Sounds like Patterson was tough and maybe not always fair. That's too bad. KC needs good managers and business people.
