TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY INSIDER: BURNS & MAC BUYING NEW SINGLE-TERMINAL AIRPORT BACKING SUCCEEDS DESPITE VOTER SKEPTICISM OVER NO-BID REVENUE GRAB!!!

Like it or not, Burns & Mac is making progress in an EPIC revenue grab as they move the dial in favor of the biggest public works project Kansas City has seen in the modern era.

To wit . . .

A KANSAS CITY INSIDER WAS FORCED TO ADMIT THAT BURNS & MAC PROMISING BIG BUCKS TO NEARLY EVERY BIG COMPANY IN TOWN HAS CREATED A BIZ COMMUNITY GROUNDSWELL FOR NEW AIRPORT MONEY!!!

Here's the word from a recent conversation on the topic:

KC INSIDER: "Talboy & company heard that all of the firms in town were pissed and making calls to Council about being left out. So what did they do? They signed up dozens of contractors along with all of the usual suspects who back their jobs. Why they didn't do this in the beginning is strange but I guess we have to give them credit for adapting . . . There's no telling if this will make a difference to voters but the tactic has at least silenced the most vocal critics among the construction set."

Still, the fact is that most locals still don't understand the deal.

Let's make it simple:

BURNS & MAC WANTS TO HIJACK AIRPORT REVENUE IN RETURN FOR BUILDING A NEW SINGLE-TERMINAL THAT MAY OR MAY NOT BE BETTER AND CERTAINLY WON'T BE AS CONVENIENT AS MCI!!!

Here's how the new KCI pitch is moving along so far . . .

Checkit:

Kansas City Unions Don't Care About The CORPORATE AIRPORT Revenue Grab As Long As They're First In Line To Get Paid

Unions were first on board but their support didn't win Hillary the White House and it might not work here given their bullying tactics have routinely turned away more voters than they've rallied. The days of organized labor dominance in local politics are over and while the pitch might still resonate among their membership, it's certainly no guarantee of victory.

East Side Support Is Easily Purchased Given Desperation For Jobs And Typical Exclusion From Kansas City Developments

We can't blame the urban core for not wanting to miss out on this high flying scheme. Never mind that KCMO rarely meets participation goals despite a litany of promises.

The Kansas City Consultant Twitter Mob Supports The Corporate Airport Money Grab Via The Social Media Echo Chamber

These locals got in on the ground floor but social media popularity rarely translates to voting success. Still, these tech, creative class denizens have a good scam going as long at they're constantly retweeting and praising every move by the Mayor.

Now here's what's really important  . . .

SO FAR, THERE IS NO WELL-FUNDED ORGANIZED OPPOSITION AGAINST THE UPCOMING KANSAS CITY CORPORATE AIRPORT NO-BID REVENUE GRAB!!!

Tax fighters do the best that they can but when we're talking about a REAL campaign with TV commercials, an office, yard signs and a ground game . . . There is no opposition against the hostile corporate airport takeover.

YET even with the support of every big biz in town, the Mayor and a majority of the council . . . This scheme must overcome widespread KCMO voter skepticism that rightfully questions the merits of a project that has provided few details among so many promises.

  1. This is how elections in Kansas City are usually purchased.

    Pay everybody off.

Not much has changed since Pendergast.

He would have been a great CEO if he was around today.

    2. So how much is Burns & Mac paying for votes? Wouldn't that be a lot more fair and productive than going through all these middlemen? They should just get to the point and offer to bribe people right at the ballot box.

KC isn't greedy. 50 bucks or maybe 100 would buy groceries for a week. That's money in hand and a lot better than all of these pipe dreams about how an Arby's at the gate is gonna make KC an international city.

  2. All this just to get to Toledo 10 minutes slower.

  3. The airport is a scam. It won't pass.

  4. As is usual those who pay don't get to vote. Most of those who use the airport and will pay for it live outside the city and have no say.

  5. Give it to them, then they are on the hook for all the complaints and bad press that will no doubt be dished out from sites like this. (street car anyone?)

  11. The Radix Malorum in these United States, is the Press, the Media, the lickspittle scum who have abrogated their station and joined the Ideologue/Marxist/Elite/Plutocrats who run this country to the detriment of the middle class.

The 4th Estates abrogation of any semblance of journalistic integrity and objectivity is, without a doubt the lubrication for the wheels of a new Fascist machine. A Brobdingnagian Federal Behemoth that crushes our Constitution and our future by way of assigning false guilt, encouraging ethnomasochistic stupidity and insisting on Orwellian, "Ministry Of Truth" deceptions that hide the malfeasance of the Left.

  12. OK, round 2 to Burns and Mac/buy off the top 20 vendors.

Tony's got this story accurate to date. Buy off the east side and the unions--those folks are not frequent fliers. They just want the jobs to BUILD it.

This can only fail for one of three reasons:
    1. It fails on the November ballot, confirming the public does not approve of a single terminal.

    2. Rex Sinquefield uses the power and his money behind the ShowMeInstitute to file lawsuits to stop it, including possible BOND FRAUD, because Mike Merriman of Americo Life, the investment partner, is secretly partnering with Burns & Mac on the ADVERTISING to get this INVESTMENT SCHEME APPROVED. And I don't believe that kind of advertising is legal.

    3. Southwest Airlines pulls out of MCI, and relocates to SW Johnson County (Gardner Airport.) With or without the other airlines. Who cares? Southwest leases half the gates at MCI. They have not signed on the bottom line with Burns & Mac. So the revenue stream disappears, and thus Merriman/Americo Life, backs out of the deal.

This could happen. Other investors would love to partner with Southwest, and THEY might prefer to finance a new airport in Joco. Cheaper, closer, and they'd be the respected big dog. Not Gangsta Sly James.

Maybe the outside investors would like to horn in on that $140 million payday candy bar, from private investment interest rather than publicly financed Airport Revenue Bonds.

  13. 12:52, Chuck, why aren't you signing your work, my friend?? You're not fooling any of us. Your vocabulary is astounding.

I just thought of a fun strategy to tank Burns & Mac's proposal.

  14. The city has to pay union scale regardless of who gets the work

  15. give the work to the mexicans. They work cheaper and it will make them easier Go round up and deport when the job is done. Every single union member is an overpaid crybaby and nobody likes unions or their members.
