Vendors could wait six months before being paid for KC Jazz Fest

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City Council members learned this week that more vendors are still waiting on their money from the Jazz Festival that happened two months ago - and the vendors might not get paid until December. "This was an event that was very hopeful to bring people to the area," said Councilman Scott Wagner.

  1. Just like the city to not pay bills for months on end. Why isn't it in the news when other vendors get stiffed?

  2. What does mayoral candidate Reed say about this?

  3. Time to stop this gravy train.

  4. Any idea where the money went that the city already gave them for this "jazz fest"? Better still, any idea where any taxpayer money went that was given to 18th and Vine?

  5. ^ Yes. It went to payroll the inept, loser friends and family from those who are entrusted with the funds for the purpose of 'working' the events. The level of gross incompetence at 18th and Vine is truly mind-bending. Cheetos (whatever you call her) was someone who was supposed to turn around the district into a vital place.

She is exponentially worse than her predecessors. There is an unwritten rule at 18th and Vine that jazz is a 'black' thing - whitey's money is welcome, yes, but whitey's input is not when it comes to running any business there.

The district is at it's worst now more than ever. The Gem theatre has
only a handful of engagements throughout the year. What the f*uck is a new, beautiful, theater doing sitting empty 360 nights a year??? DO SOMETHING to bring in more people...show jazz movies...have jam sessions... and charge $2.50 a head. Anything is better than letting it slowly go to ruin, bring with it all the money that was spent to revamp it.

Give me one tenth of the funding that has been thrown down the black hole of the district and I will turn it into the most popular jazz district since the Pendergast era. SMH.
TKC, this topic gets me furious!! There is no excuse for the talent and the vendors not getting paid. NONE! I guarantee every one of the friends and family who were hired to 'work' the event got paid.

  6. White taxpayer money for a literal black hole. Where is the off switch? When does it end?

  7. I still believe the only way to make this money pit generate actual revenue for the city is FIRE every useless worker employed there. So, this would translate into firing EVERYBODY. No more day parking lots full of Escalades.

Install a dozen Jewish lawyers that specialize in entertainment law in those same offices. I'd bet both my balls that within a year, things would actually be IN THE GREEN for the first time EVER.

Last time Jewish guys were in charge of Jazz, it totally flourished. I bet they could turn this crime-ridden shithole, which is now actually a taxpayer-funded private club for do-nothings into an actual destination attended by White people with disposable incomes.

It would be safe. It would be fun and entertaining. It would FINALLY be a good investment, instead of the way our tax money is currently being spent - a free lunch and stupid wardrobes for a huge bunch of fucking thieves.

If this embarrassing daily tragedy is allowed continue, actual taxpayers like me will move away from KC. As a result, when they want to give stupidly dressed grifters some more of my money, it won't be there for them to grab.

  8. And now Sly wants to repeat this fiasco with a 3 day festival in Swope Park! Already spent $500,000 on " planning". When are these people going to jail?

  9. Prosecute the checks and stop being pussies.

  10. No more money until the stupid cunt with like 4 names is gone

  11. In the interest of full transparency, let's see a FULL ACCOUNTING from the Board of Directors for this disaster.

  12. Looks like the American Jazz Museum needs a whole new set of folks running it.

Then an audit ran to see what went where then if need be paybacks made or some folks maybe arrested for fraud.

Taxpayers have a right to know where all the money went.

  13. At my old job we dealt with a lot of the Jazz District. You talk about stealing money. The black Archives, there's a real boondoggle for you. Millions were wasted there and skimmed off the top. The mafia would have been proud. Story about the good reverend Emanuel Cleaver: buddy of mine gets invited to bid on remodeling the kitchen in Cleaver's church. When he meets with the people at the church it is made clear to him that he is expected to do the work for free because it was for God and the Mayor. He walked out on them. Don't let that man of the cloth Cleaver fool you, him and his friends stole millions from the taxpayers on that worthless Jazz District.

  14. Another example of our negro problem

  15. The woman in charge of the Museum was the one who had the responsibility for making deals and not paying.

  16. Cheap-toes has an excuse for everything....'the weather'...'we're too ambitious',etc., etc., etc., Her job was to factor in the possibility of lower turn-out due to rain, and still get the bills paid to the vendors and musicians!! That is Outdoor Festival Planning 101!!

Now she wants to raise private money to pay the bills. Okay. I say let's start with her salary for one year.
