KANSAS CITY AUTHORITIES AND RESIDENTS CONFRONT WARNING OF MORE OPIOID ADDICTS ON LOCAL STREETS THIS SUMMER!!!
They're not quite homeless and not quite criminals but a little of both and possibly the reason why it's not a good idea to leave valuables or loose change out in the open.
Downtown is inundated with this rising contingent of Kansas City resident that benefits from increased foot traffic and busier midtown streets. This epidemic is part of the reason why panhandling is on the rise throughout Downtown & Midtown and might be contributing to the rise in property crime as well.
Even worse, those who suffer from opioid addiction are also victimized by rougher criminals and each other as the desperation often puts these folks at risk.
As always, our blog community seeks to inform and warn locals of yet another threat as this Kansas City cruel Summer continues.

this story relates back to earlier pleading with locals not to give panhandlers change. Most of them are using the money fro drugs and it's hurting them, not helping them.

I carry job applications with me. When someone approaches me for a handout I hand them an application every time if at all possible. LOL, get some strange looks sometimes from the ones with signs that say no job or lost job and have no food.
