Convention hotel opponents come up short in referendum signatures - Kansas City Business Journal

Kansas City officials inadvertently opened the door to a petition drive against the proposed $300 million convention headquarters hotel. But the group gathering the referendum signatures hasn't hit the minimum signature requirement, The Kansas City Star reports. Citizens for Responsible Government wants to put the proposed hotel to a public vote and needs 604 additional signatures by June 17.

2 shooting victims dropped off at KC fire station

Kansas City police are investigating a double shooting Tuesday night that left two men with life-threatening injuries. Police said the men were shot in the 2100 block of Wheeling Avenue and were dropped off at fire station No. 24 before 10 p.m. Tuesday. One woman said she heard more than a dozen gunshots.
