SHAME!!! ANOTHER SHOOTING IN WESTPORT STARTS ANNUAL KANSAS CITY SEASON OF ENTERTAINMENT DISTRICT VIOLENCE!!!
Early morning news of Kansas City gunfire amid a brutal robbery reports a woman clinging to life after a violent encounter.
Check the round-up:
Fox4: The suspect approached them with a gun. The suspect took the woman's cell phone, and then fired the gun at her.
KCTV5: Couple shot during attempted robbery in Westport
KSHB: It happened near Broadway and Westport Road around 2 a.m.
KMBC: No arrests yet
Of course there's no suspect description but denizens of Westport have been dealing with the antics of a d-bag suspect for over a year . . . The Westport cellphone crook robbed at popular local podcaster last Summer at gunpoint and regularly rides the metro up & down Broadway looking for new victims. Sadly, it was only a matter of time until he shot somebody.
Nevertheless . . .

Like it or not, entertainment district crowd control was a big priority for the former chief and now that leadership is gone. Former Chief Forté attempted to keep a delicate balance between crackdowns on patrons and keeping the peace . . . In terms of party district policing, he really did earn a lot of his exorbitant overtime while directly managing complex KCMO crowd control situations. While there's a promise to keep up "business as usual" increasing local violence amid good times add another problem into the mix.
