KANSAS CITY NTDF ANGER: LOW CASH FLOW AMID MAYOR SLY'S UPCOMING ARTSY EXTRAVAGANZA!!!

City Hall priorities have shifted away from smaller, local events as Mayor Sly's upcoming arty party now takes precedence.

First, just a bit of an explanation . . .

The Neighborhood Tourist Development Fund (NTDF) program provides support to non-profit organizations through contracts for services, established by State law in 1989 to help promote Kansas City’s distinct and diverse neighborhoods through cultural, social, ethnic, historic, educational and recreational activities in conjunction with promoting the city as a premier convention, visitor and tourist center.

And so, City Hall Insiders warn . . .

THERE'S NOT AS MUCH NTDF CASH AVAILABLE FOR LOCAL GROUPS NOW THAT MAYOR SLY'S UPCOMING ARTSY EVENT IS SIPHONING MOST OF THE FUNDS!!!

And while this might not be a huge loss for KCMO, it's yet another sign that voters and volunteers at the grassroots level now have even less access to City Hall help.

You decide . . .

  5. Um, the fund had a 500k unspent balance last budget year. So, complete bullshit. If organizations want the money, all they have to do is apply for it and if they are qualified they get it. Why make this shit up likr a seventh grader when the facts are so clear?

  6. Heck, I'm a Northlander, we've never seen a cent of "tourism" money up here, ever! The funds all seem to get siphoned off to more worthy projects in "Baha KC". But then, our Esteemed Mayor claims KC gets more tourists than Paris (France, not Texas)! so we must doing everything right, n'est pas?

Or if not that would mean that our Esteemed Mayor's pants are on fire pretty frequently, wouldn't it?

  7. 9:28 is right. Charge for riding toy train like the bus service. Would bring in millions for bullhorn James to stick in his pocket. Busses move faster. It's going to happen. 1 dollar get you on the cho cho.
