Longtime labor educator at UMKC is out; program's future is under review

Judy Ancel is out of her longtime job but she's not quitting. Ancel has been the director of the Worker Education & Labor Studies Program at the University of Missouri-Kansas City since 1988, but she lost her position this month.

  6. Guess she won't be now trying to be hired at the UMKC Theatre Dept--but I gotta say, she had one hell of a first act, at $77k per year for a job that appears to have been unnecessary.

  8. Heartland Labor Forum is the best program on KKFI. Good teachers get no respect anymore because standards have fallen to mythology of rich wealth creators . We're glad Professor Ancel was able to inspire as many as she did.

  9. Good teachers do not get the respect nor salary they truly deserve. Standards are not there. Rather what they should be. Accreditation has not been achieved public or charter. Mythology of rich creators at hand for the greater good of course. A true inspiration in work and deed.
