TKC SUNDAY SPECIAL!!! EAST SIDE WORKHOUSE CASTLE SUPPORTERS COME OUT AGAINST COUNCIL DUDE JERMIANE REED FOR MAYOR!!!

We're posting this on Sunday so we're gonna try to be nice.

Here are the facts.

The TKC blog community reported Council Dude Jermaine Reed's mayoral ambitions at the Start of May.

Over the weekend The Star finally caught up to our news with the formal announcement from the young contender.

Now . . .

SUPPORTERS OF THE VINE STREET WORKHOUSE CASTLE GROUP RAGE AGAINST THE CANDIDACY OF COUNCIL DUDE REED!!!

There are a lot of moving parts and allegation but let's just get to the crux of the argument so readers can make their own decisions.

Quote . . .

"A local city councilman announces his candidacy for Mayor of Kansas City, MO just a year and a half after robbing The Workhouse - Kansas City Historic Castle of becoming a beautiful viable community center and stepping-stone for the revitalization of the Jazz District . . . "

Now, that part of the quote is opinion but the allegations get far more specific in a post that is public and local political denizens should read for themselves.

Quick refresher for those who don't know . . . City workhouse castle or Vine Street workhouse castle is a castle structure located at 21st and Vine in Kansas City, Missouri. Abandoned since 1972. The castle has a rich history and a frustrating record of renovation projects that have never proven effective.

Supporters of the latest effort seem to blame Councilman Reed for "robbing" them of an opportunity at success among other things and their message is building momentum on social media.

And example and photo from the group:

Now . . . The Workhouse complaints are related to financial, management and leadership issues that should concern every KCMO voter. But criticism of Council Dude Reed gets much worse . . .

Again, because this is Sunday and I want to be nice and TKC also forgives the Council dude and takes the blame for any and all of the uncomfortable and "more hostile than needed" brief chats we've exchanged over the years . . .

COUNCILMAN JERMIANE REED NEEDS TO DROP OUT OF THE MAYORAL RACE BEFORE EVEN MORE NASTY SCANDALS BECOME PUBLIC!!!

TKC isn't going to break any "news" that isn't relevant to the lives of voters, taxpayers and denizens but there are a lot of social media denizens and competing news organizations that won't show that kind of restraint.

Councilman Jermaine Reed deserves fairness and even a break given that he was once the youngest Council member in Kansas City history. His career hasn't had many highlights as his own constituents have been angry at him over his support of the streetcar with 3rd District PIAC funds and Conservatives celebrated when the former KCPD Chief Of Police publicly SMACKED DOWN COUNCILMAN REED'S RACIAL ARGUMENTS about policing of African-American youth on the Plaza. Still, former Councilman John Sharp helped mentor the newbie politico and his connections to Congressman Cleaver and activist Alvin Brooks have kept him largely above the fray.

However, the level of anger, discontent and frustration with Councilman Reed from many of his constituents threatens to become personal as the Mayoral election moves closer. Example: About half a dozen local activists sent messages our way and couldn't believe the newspaper report was factual given so much community gossip that already exists regarding the 3rd District Council Dude.

While the possibility of scandal confronts every politico . . . As a young, impeccably dressed, powerful and ambitious Kansas City politician, Councilman Jermaine Reed is just a bit more vulnerable to social media gossip than his competitors . . . For reasons that are widely understood and some that might soon be made public.

  1. There doesn't need to be any scandal against reed. Just look at the facts, look at his district, look at his supporters. He was a mediocre councilman and will not come close to being Mayor.

    1. This might not be about that. A lot of mayoral candidates just do it for visibility or to get another better job. You may not agree but Jermaine Reed is not a stupid person. Look for him to throw his support with a better candidate at the last minute. That's usually how it's done in these election. It's a trick that Charles Wheeler has been doing for at least 10 years.

    2. Is that workhouse castle money part of the 100 million dollars that KCMo has thrown away over the past 20 years on the 18th & Vine district.

Don't beat around the bush: Vote Jolie for mayor instead!

  3. 8:07 no it is not and it would take tens of millions for that building to be rehabbed. While I agree that building is very cool, the taxpayers don't need to spend one more penny on that failure of an area. Way too much has been stolen there already. That building is in the ghetto, seriously anybody ever drive a couple of blocks south of 18th & Vine? You don't want to be there, especially if you're white. If someone private wants to restore that building, fine. But no more tax money. Btw, rehabbing that place will not do a single bit of good to attract people to the Jazz District.

  4. His relationship with Alvin Brooks needs to become public.

  5. Black's don't know how to run crap. Kcmo is proof if that. James, clever, and now maybe this idiot. Get a clue Mo.

  6. We need a white mayor. Negroes are not intelligent enough to govern, really. I will not vote for a colored candidate.

  7. The only problem with Jolie is she is a nuff diving woman. But at least she is white.

KCTV is really on the ball aren't they?

  16. Just another "group" with BIG BIG plans and ideas, no money of their own, no investors or supporters, but now need just a couple million from the huge slush fund at city hall and Reed won't give them some of it.
Reed's made lots of mistakes including re-directing over $500 grand from his District's PIAC fund for the streetcar study when the money could have been much better spent to fix streets and sidewalks in the Third District.
And he was in the middle of the East Patrol building fiasco doing the bidding of Modest Miles and literally bulldozing his own constituents.
But if EVERY grifter who wandered through the offices on the 22nd floor of city hall got tax money, even the $1.4 billion city piggy bank would be even more hurting than it is already.
Reed won't be mayor, but it won't be because he occasionally says no to bad ideas like this.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Reed would not be a very good mayor. He's another negro

  18. Ask Reed if he knows about all the mechanical and engineering problems that the new East Patrol Station has. I overheard that they have to dig all of the concrete up where the sewer lines run because they were improperly installed. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the construction completed by mostly 3rd party inner city sub-contractors? JE Junn was just there in "spirit". Not shocked. Feel sorry for those Officers that got "screwed" out of their new station. Well, on second thought, the station is in a Crap area. Guess it is equal to its surroundings ( Except for the Fancy Crime Lab")..

  19. I vote no more ghetto people for for mayor or city council, they've put way too much money into the cesspool called the east side especially prospect Ave to no avail.
