TKC MUST READ!!! COUNCIL SEEKS TO UPHOLD KANSAS CITY MINIMUM WAGE HIKE AMID MISSOURI LEGISLATIVE PUSH BACK!!!
The bill to block at $10-Minimum wage spike in STL is on it's way to the Governor and this effort WILL impact Kansas City's very similar legislation.
With respect to the free market . . .
THE $7.70 MISSOURI MINIMUM WAGE IS A TRAGIC JOKE AND NEEDS TO BE RAISED!!!
How much is open to debate . . . And probably a statewide vote.
In the meantime . . . Here's a quote from the Council Leader on the topic . . .
Councilman Quinton Lucas: The state legislature took another step to reduce the rights of local citizens to make important decisions in their own communities. Kansas City will review the legislation and I will push us to pursue all available legal remedies to uphold our ordinances respecting the rights of our local workers. I continue to believe that enactment of a minimum wage ordinance passed prior to this state legislative action vested rights for workers immediately per ordinance and is lawful notwithstanding today's actions. I encourage Governor Greitens to consider a veto of this legislation that undermines local control in all Missouri communities."
