TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! KANSAS CITY BURNS & MAC NO-BID NEW AIRPORT 'ACCELERATED' COUNCIL VOTE SHUTS DOWN PETITIONERS!!!
Yesterday our KICK-ASS TKC blog community was FIRST to break the news about a nasty airport deal that's being rushed through without legal review that was promised last week.
Most locals don't know why . . . Here's just a bit of perspective from City Hall insiders:
"The ordinance has an accelerated clause so petitioners can't file against it. A little tidbit the law department picked up after the hotel fiasco."
And so . . .
THE NO-BID NEW AIRPORT IS NOW ON A CRASH COURSE FOR APPROVAL AND A CAMPAIGN THAT WILL FEATURE AN INTERNATIONAL CORPORATION AGAINST A SMALLISH GROUP OF KANSAS CITY TAX FIGHTERS!!!
The sticking point for any objective observer isn't so much the question of a new airport but the despicable tactics and shady behind the scenes NO-BID plan to push the effort through.
TKC Fun Fact: They used to call these "emergency ordinances" but Mayor Sly & Former Council Lady Cindy Circo changed that name after OUR TKC BLOG COMMUNITY continually embarrassed them for doing City Hall biz in this corrupt manner. I guess "accelerated" sounds better . . .
ANOTHER FUN FACT: BURNS & MAC HAVE GIVEN MONEY TO THE MAYOR AND EVERYONE ON COUNCIL!!!
But I digress . . .
Accordingly, here are the highlights of some research on the topic from our blog community . . .
"The city of Kansas City Missouri is proposing to sign a legally binding contract with Terminal Developer, LLC for a no-bid airport terminal project likely to be worth well over a billion dollars. Mayor James, City Manager Schulte, and Council member Justus are particularly in a big rush to force this deal through, before the other Council members and the public understand what is really happening.
"Who is Terminal Developer, LLC ? Do you know? This basic information hasn't been disclosed.
"You can search and discover that the limited liability company Terminal Developer, LLC was organized in the state of Missouri on 4/27/2017 . . . By an executive of SMF Registered Services, Inc., which in turn appears to be an entity of KCMO law firm Stinson Leonard Street . . . Others at Stinson Leonard Street, and Burns and McDonnell have previously donated to the Sylvester James campaign. And recall that State Sen. Jolie Justus accepted multiple lobbying gifts from Stinson Leonard Street. In fact, Burns and McDonnell have been among the largest contributors to both Sylvester James and Jolie Justus. There are so many simultaneous intertwining conflicts of interest at-play in this terminal proposal, without the parties recusing themselves, that it resembles an incestuous orgy . . ."
The only bright side is that while this CORRUPT vote will make it through a close decision via the council . . . Voters will have the final word.
Developing . . .
KC hasn't been this corrupt in awhile.
ReplyDeleteI guess things must be really picking up to try to pull of this graft.
Sly will be in Congress by the time this airport is complete and we'll be stuck with his giant mistake.
ReplyDeleteWhy would you ever want to make the airport smaller than it already is?
where is the outrage?
ReplyDeleteSMF.....
ReplyDeleteStinson, Mag & Fizzell
The new airport will be a disaster for convenience NO ROCK STAR PARKING OR DROP OFF. THERE WILL BE ONLY A FEW WHO WILL EAT OVER PRICED AIRPORT FOOD MOST PEOPLE EAT WELL SOME WHERE ELSE BEFORE TAKING A FLIGHT THIS IS THE RETRO ROCKER UNOFFICIAL survey.
ReplyDeleteSave KCI convenience!
ReplyDeletehope they have a vip, membership-type waiting area at the new airport.
ReplyDeletethe old ambassadors club with twa was a nice way to avoid crowds.
not particularly interested in eating at an airport fast-food court here.
Build Cleaver II International now!
ReplyDeleteBetter to call it Pendergast International.
ReplyDeleteSly is over-qualified for Congress.
ReplyDeleteVoters have the final word?? Preposterous. When???? In three years, when Sly is term limited and the darn thing's already built? Can't undo this.
ReplyDeleteThe real impact will be on citizens trying to fly--when we allow Burns and McDonnell to just build 35 terminals. Not 66, not 90 which had been proposed for years. The existing gate-holders will have a stranglehold, keeping out competition, since they will be paying off the bonds with landing fees. Fares will skyrocket.
Look at Cedar Rapids--much closer to Chicago than KC is. But a round trip ticket from their smaller airport costs $884. Vs. an average of $500, and just now, $299, for MCI to Chicago.
The reason for no outrage is--homeowners feel "railroaded"---ironic term!---and powerless. They didn't write a check to elect their council person. Stinson law firm did. And so did Burns and McDonnell. Big time. Over and over. Every fundraiser and coffee, every time they were asked. Even when they weren't asked!
Most readers here can't even name their two council reps for their own district. Or tell you what district they live in, and who is at large and who is their in-district council person. Sly James ran against a homeless mentally ill man , "The Colonel"--he didn't even have a cell phone--slept on people's sofas or a fleabag motel on the Paseo--and the STAR and Micheal Mahoney and KCPT never even reported that fact! And Sly isn't even a homeowner--he rents at 108 E. 30th St. on Union Hill.
This is the beginning of the end for KCMO--the Vegas of the Plains.
With Sly James as Mayor instead of Oscar Goodman.
KC used to be, for the mob, the HQ for families that made JUICE LOANS. High interest, and the Civellas would break your kneecaps if you were late on your payments.
Now KC is the mob HQ for licensed engineers and developers. We've gone from juice--to high fiber--bricks and mortar.
We will defeat all northland council members voting for it
ReplyDeleteSeriously, 4:32? Mr. Anonymous? Mr. no name, no organization? do you think your two council reps are scared by this? Is this all ya got??
ReplyDeleteNorthlander Tea Partier-in-Chief Sam Graves: "I like this new concept."
ReplyDeleteAs for Tracy, is she off her meds again?
As for you, get back to polishin' that bullhorn!:)
DeleteChrist! You people bitch about everything.
ReplyDeleteFucking concerned citizens!! Getting in the way of a good grift.

He is a partner in the firm's General Business Division.
ReplyDeleteNothing connects them to burned and mcmanaged
ReplyDelete6 vice presidents live in colorado and one in st louis
ReplyDeleteKC = Korruption City.
ReplyDeleteKC Star an embarrassment on telling two sides of streetcar and airport and city hall/chamber rigging of things
ReplyDeleteWe attended the airport meeting at the Marriott this evening. It was interesting in that at least 7 speakers were there to advocate for their business and/or unions. Of course they were for the single terminal. About 16 speakers were for the deal and 13 or so were against it. One speaker identified herself as a JoCo resident who was embarrassed by her airport. She thought Indianapolis had a much better set-up. We silently urged her to go there - ha ha.
ReplyDeleteOne speaker asked about alternative ideas - where were they? No answer from the Council or the panel of B&M suits. The usual song & dance with claims that the airlines would pay for the new airport - definitely NOT true.
FYI
ReplyDeleteMO Sec of State records indicate Stinson Leonard Street's David W. Frantze signed for the formation of Terminal Developer LLC, and he is widely known as Burns and McDonnell's legal counsel. He brags about getting them all those millions in tax incentives, abatements, and city financing for their HQ expansion.
Burns and McDonnell wants to privately arrange all the financing for the billion-dollar airport terminal, but they couldn't even finance their own headquarters expansion! The city of KCMO, under Sly James' orders, did it for them after they generously donated to his campaign. Sly James is COMPLETELY COMPRISED and shouldn't be a part of any city proposal involving Burns and McDonnell. MAJOR conflict of interest.
KCMO is going to face multiple lawsuits from businesses being shut out of all KCI projects for the next 30-35 years, per the MOU. And Sly James will likely face federal/state charges under the RICO and Hobbs Act.
^^^ Nah, it'll probalby pass with no problem.
