REWARD OF UP TO $5,000 OFFERED FOR HELP NABBING WHOEVER ABANDONED DOG TO DROWN

PETA Seeks Information on Culprit(s) Who Tied Dog to Cinderblock and Left Him in Longview Lake

Jackson County, Mo. — On the morning of Friday, April 28, park rangers discovered a dog barking in distress on the bank of Longview Lake near Shelter 12. The dog, estimated to be 5 to 7 years old, was caked with mud. He was tethered to a cinderblock with no food or water, and local humane authorities believe that he was intentionally left to drown in the lake's rising waters. Now named Deputy, he is recovering at Great Plains SPCA.

Law-enforcement officials are investigating the incident but have yet to make any arrests. That's why PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that "animals are not ours to abuse in any way" — is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction on cruelty charges of the person or persons responsible for this crime.

"This dog was abandoned and left to die as Longview Lake's rising waters threatened to drown him," says PETA Vice President Colleen O'Brien. "PETA urges anyone with information about this case to come forward immediately so that whoever abandoned this dog to die can be held accountable."

Anyone with information about this case is encouraged to call Jackson County Animal Control at 913-475-6164.

  1. If every pit bull owner was eradicated from the face of the earth today the world would dramatically improve instantly.

Yeah yeah, I know that you have a sweet Aunt who rescued a pit and she's just a sweet old lady. We would lose some good people but 99% of the owners of these dogs are complete skidmarks on society.

  4. You get $2000 for information on a murderer. But $5,000 for animal abuse. Not a great statement about society.

  7. This isn't a case where someone just shot their dog and got it over with. Whoever strapped a dog to a cement block to drown was a lowlife motherfucker and needs to be locked up until Dr, Phil bust his scumbag balls. The ass hole who does shit like this is just a step away from trying his shit out on humans.

  13. Good for PETA. The asshole(s) who did this should be disposed of in the very same way. A pet is more valuable to society than some drug dealer who gets offed during a deal gone bad any day.
