SHOCK!!! JACKSON COUNTY DEMOCRATS SNUB LEGISLATOR CRYSTAL WILLIAMS IN TRIBUTE TO KANSAS CITY POLITICAL MATRIARCH DUTCH NEWMAN!!!

For the most dedicated political denizens of Kansas City, our blog community offers a glimpse of rough political life for local ladies attempting to live up to the legacy of a founder of local Democracy.

To wit . . .

THE 2017 TRUMAN GALA IS COMING UP AND THIS YEAR JACKSON COUNTY DEMOCRATS HONOR GEORGIA SANDERS WITH THE DUTCH NEWS DEMOCRATIC WOMAN OF THE HEAR PRIZE!!!

It's the biggest surprise of the Truman Gala that's coming up and a bit of a surprise considering that, in fairness, Jackson County Legislator Crystal Williams has done a great deal of work and talk in honoring the late Dutch Newman and attempting to preserve her legacy.

That's not to say that Georgia Sanders isn't deserving of the honor. She's back in the fray at the courthouse and seems to be taking a more active behind the scenes role in local politics as her hubby Mike Sanders stepped down from the County Exec job but still remains one of the top lawyers and political pundits in the metro. Additionally, Mike's new boss Indy UBER-lawyer Ken McClain takes the top Truman honor along with activist lady Beth Low Smith.

And we post all of this intrigue on Sunday afternoon because we want our blog community to consider being nice to these Democratic activists who now rank among a SUPER-MINORITY in Missouri as their party struggles to remain relevant while the debate betwixt factions of the Missouri Republicans seems to hold more importance to the immediate future of the state than this crew that struggles to RESTART their bid to win back voters amid a tidal wave of support for Prez Trump and corporate influence on statewide politics.

Fact is all of these Truman Award winning politicos struggle to fulfill to the longstanding power broker legacy of Dutch Newman (R.I.P.) who helped to shape voting in Kansas City for both better and worse.

You decide . . .

  1. I think Dutch would be proud. It's good to have competition among women and you'll notice that they outnumber men on this list of award winners.

If the Democratic Party in Missouri has a future, it's being more inclusive of women and their rights that the Republicans don't seem to care about.

  3. GOP hates women, they have priven it over and over.

  5. Is that you Claire (5:43), "priven" it?

  6. The whole focking political system here is corrupt.

  7. Uh. Crystal has already gotten this award. #tkcphonytips

  8. ^^^ Nope. Sorry Crystal. Your FAKE win was to help establish the prize. YOU DID NOT WIN.

    Try again. Have another sip!

  9. I think the first comment is on the money. No self respecting woman can vote for the Republicans. They have made themselves an enemy of all women when they openly advocate against pregnancy as a pre existing condition but then mediation for boner pills is approved. Shameful!

  10. So I guess all the other award winners over the years, were to "establish" the award....right 7:25?

  11. @7:35 There hasn't been any other award winners. Georgia is the 1st. She deserves it far more than crystal. You must be smoking the same thing as her buddy Jeremy. The Democratic Party will be much better off when we can purge ourselves of the drug addicts and the drunks.

    It's time to MOVE ON!

  12. I like Crystal. I can only agree with Tony that she had done good work for Dutch and her family. In this case, Crystal has helped honor the legacy of a woman who was instrumental in making her neighborhood and all of KC take their voting more seriously. It's not a bad thing to make sure that Dutch is remembered. We can't have enough strong women out in politics in the age of Trump.

  13. The county AND KCMO needs a whole lot more actual governing and a WHOLE lot less "politics".
In fact, this isn't even actual politics.
It's amateurish and childish celebrity wannabes fighting with each other over who's the fairest of them all.
Yet another reason to thank God for the state line.

  14. The people who are involved with politics like feel important but don't have any other skills to actually become important.
