ReplyDeleteThis handicapped parking program is another example of a good idea gone right down the shitter. There is something fundamentally wrong with people walking a quarter mile across a parking lot because handicapped spaces sit empty while the supposed handicapped bitch and raise hell about anyone who parks in their designated spots. In the meantime those poor handicapped souls are too helpless to park anywhere except near the store entrance, but once they are inside they can shop for hours and travel miles with out a single pain. Fact is about 85 percent of those with "legitimate" handicapped permits should not even have them. Of course the cities wont stop the game because the tickets are a lucrative revenue stream. Fucking incredible how we play along.
Silverback Sly is incorrect when he accuses only black people of misusing the handicapped spaces. The vast majority of scofflaws have been older white men and women. I've seen many drivers pull in to marked spaces without so much as a hang-tag or plate. They know that nothing will happen. When there is no enforcement, there is no incentive to do the right thing. I'm always grateful I don't HAVE to use a handicap space. The abusers should think about that the next time they sail into shop.
