Storm knocks out power for thousands in KC area
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - More than 9,000 people are without power after thunderstorms hit parts of Missouri and Kansas. Parts of the Kansas City metro were placed under a thunderstorm watch Wednesday afternoon. In addition to rain, The National Weather service reported that 50 mile-per-hour winds hit parts of southern Kansas City.

A developer planning to convert a River Market warehouse into a self-storage facility has encountered early opposition to the plan. But Wes Grammer of Sky Real Estate LLC maintains that self-storage is the perfect use for the three-story, 51,000-square-foot building at 417 Grand Blvd.

Missouri commission approved KCP&L rate increase
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - State regulators have approved a $32.5 million rate increase for Kansas City Power & Light to offset the utility's costs of providing service. The Missouri Public Service Commission announced Tuesday the rate increase would cost the average residential customer about $4 a month.

Royals designate Colon for assignment
Kansas City DFA's infielder Christian Colon and Peter O'Brien. The team calls up right-handed pitchers Seth Maness and Al Alburquerqe from AAA Omaha. Colon's base hit in the 12th inning of game 5 in the 2015 World Series was the deciding run in the Royals World Series clinching win.
