KANSAS CITY WESTPORT CHECKPOINT CANCELLED AMID MISSOURI CUTBACKS!!!

Amid Missouri legislative slap fighting . . . There's a brief interlude in Summer crackdowns for this Midtown party district.

Take a look:

Fox4: DUI checkpoints, which Kansas City police had announced would take place this weekend, have been cancelled through the rest of fiscal year 2017.

Don't get too confident . . . There are a lot of ways to catch drunks without these invasive tactics that devastate local bar biz while coming off like "police state" flexing and that might be the point of this rare state-wide pushback against the crackdowns.

  1. Saturation patrols are more effective catching drunk drivers.

Like DARE it is more about police OT than safety.

  2. I agree that extra patrols are more effective than checkpoints. Checkpoints have become predictable, and with social media, less effective. If they want to keep them, they should make offenders pay into a fund through fines and maybe even tax alcohol not use limited taxpayer funds.

  4. Copied from post in another forum and added here............KCPD has at least 1400 police officers, they choose to only use 180 of those officers per day. There are 6 districts and each district only uses 10 officers per district per 8hr shift for a total of 180. This is also misleading for the fact that they don't always get 10 officers per district per shift because they take off work for any number of reasons usually only averaging 7or 8 officers in each district. It's not that we don't have enough they choose to not use them. This is the real reason there's no cops around when you need them or it takes four hours to respond. It's just piss poor management.

  5. Check points are un-American and un constitutional.

  6. What are they doing about texting and driving?
