MCI NO-BID SCARE TACTIC: MAYOR SLY SEYZ KANSAS CITY COULD LOSE AIRPORT WITHOUT SINGLE-TERMINAL OVERHAUL!!!
At this late date, Kansas City's top elected official is inventing a crisis in order to push forward his agenda . . .
KMBC: Kansas City Mayor says without KCI update, the airport may leave the city
Money line:
Mayor James made it clear that he thinks the airlines that operate out of KCI are running out of patience with the city while waiting for renovations.
“And if we don’t do it,” explained James, “They’ll certainly be looking to Omaha, Wichita, and they’ve had some conversations with Johnson County already.”
The "conversations" the Mayor is talking about haven't led to any real planning and actually this story was floated months ago to a great deal of public skepticism.
And so we ask . . .
IS THE MAYOR'S SCARE TACTIC CORRECT . . . WILL KANSAS CITY LOSE THE AIRPORT WITHOUT THIS SKETCHY NO-BID PLAN?!?!?
You decide . . .
This merely cements Sylvester James' bonafides as a member of the KCMO political circus!
ReplyDeleteInsultingly stupid!
This has to be the height of arrogance and contempt for the public.
ReplyDeleteThe airlines have a market in KC and that's why they're here to srvice it.
The notion that they'd move flights to Omaha or Wichita, or certainly to Johnson County just because they don't have a new building to operate out of is ludicrous. Does anyone actually believe that KC travelers will drive to Omaha to get flights?
Let's see the companies that are actually threatening this leave and watch as those that are left add flights to pick up the slack.
A Hail Mary pass, if ever there was one.
Credibility?
ZERO!
Let those other cities bear that tax burden. Not that ot is going to happen. The airlines like MCI and of course want something now that someone else (KCMO taxpayers) have to pay for. The mayor is full of shite
ReplyDeletethere's not going to be a new commercial airport in kansas.
ReplyDeletenimby protests would surge by well-educated suburbanites almost anywhere close enough.
kansans are very sensitive to intrusions on the quality of their neighborhoods.
Fuck Kansas. Overland Park and Shawnee are pussy cities that wouldn't have existed without Kansas City, Missouri.
DeleteNext argument, please. We've stopped laughing at the absurdity of this one.
ReplyDeleteMaybe try the one about attracting nonstop international flights, and throw in a bid for the olympics in 2040.
At this late date, the Kansas City's is inventing a crisis in order to push forward his agenda . . .
ReplyDeleteCall us when you can make sense. That doesn't.
As remarkably asinine as the mayor's comment is, of equal stupidity is channel 9 for running it without any sort of WTF push back.
ReplyDeleteAnd according to the Business Journal, this latest scheme bumps the price to 2.5 million. Where is the news coverage of that little detail?
That's 2.5 BILLION, with a B!
ReplyDeleteSly really does think we are stupid doesn't he? Channel 9 ? Really? WTF!
ReplyDeleteSly is DESPERATE, if he doesn't deliver this plumb to his bosses then they might not back him for his trip to D.C., it's a shame that we have a mayor more interested in his career than the people of Kansas City.
ReplyDeleteJust another great liberal metrosexual money pit to grease the palms of other politicians , consultants and contractors at the expenses of the inner city tax payers ! Keep electing the metrosexual TRANNY BITCHES into office , dump hood rats get what they deserve ¡
ReplyDeleteHe's certainly writing checks his fat azz can't cash, f-ing libtard snowflake
ReplyDeleteI call his bluff.
ReplyDelete...and if the airport leaves the city they will have to have their nads checked by TSA in Johnson County.... So who cares?
ReplyDelete10:25 nailed it ! Graft , corruption and pay offs will be helping the new airport fantasy alive , Johnson County could do it easily with more class and under time and under budget , KCMO gotta grease the palms of the shit hole LIBERAL Democrats BITCHES ¡!
ReplyDeleteIt is time say BULLSHIT to the Mayor. KC dummocrats are not going to get any airport.
ReplyDelete11:27 & 10:25 both use the same upside down exclamation point.
ReplyDeleteApparently some retard is telling himself that he made a great comment. "Nailed it", okay dear, if you say so.
Jolie Justice is a human paraquat.
ReplyDeleteNominating this as moronic argument of the year. The KC market is just that. You can't move KC passenger traffic to other cities. Omaha, really?
ReplyDeleteThe only local option of JoCo isn't practical for all the previous comments posted.
The airport needs a drastic overall & update. Similar to the upgrades done at Arrowhead & Kauffman that extended the life by 25 years. We didn't need a new downtown stadium, we didn't lose the teams, and renovations were much cheaper than new stadiums.
Make the renovation case for pushing the project.
Sly isn't helping the cause with such a transparently stupid prediction.
You guys don't know much about airline operations. Most KCI users are not even from the metro. Not only can they move, airlines have slowly been moving away from KC for decades because the airport is shitty.
ReplyDeleteSorry, the scare tactics don't work.
DeleteI believe the Mayor is angling for a job in the West Wing.
ReplyDeleteActually moving the airport over to Kansas would be a big plus for Missourians. There is no advantage to tax payers on these huge, bloated projects. The slick tax breaks and abatement deals alone costs the tax payers millions. It is also fact that no matter how much revenue the airport claims to generate the tax payers never see a dime of it. Every cent of revenue from any activity involving the city simply amounts to more money going to the city - not the citizens and tax payers. We have already seen how airport revenues are sure not spent to maintain the facility and we have yet to hold anyone responsible for the absolutely derelict behavior associated with the deterioration of the present KCI. All we have learned is that decades of experience in managing an airport has resulted in creative ways to be less fiscally responsible and waste more money.
ReplyDeleteLet the airport go to Johnson County. Perhaps they will be lucky enough to learn from KCI mistakes. If nothing else travelers will travel to and from the airport without being exposed to more of the worst of the KC metro.
How bout' we lose this mayor in a big ol' vat of Concrete at that new Airport !!
ReplyDeleteThen the Feds can spend decades looking for his Degenerate worthless ass, like Hoffa ,,,,,,,
