KANSAS CITY LIPSTICK ART?!?!

Quick look at the Kansas City art scene to start the day . . .

Check city college grad Christina Silvius offering today's Midtown inspiration with this performance piece . . .

Deserciption:

“Give” is an object based, endurance piece in which I stood beneath a metal frame that held 6 vertical open lipstick containers. The lipsticks hung at various heights to which I was able to stretch and reach from the tips of my toes. Underneath the structure I repeated the action of sampling, applying, and selecting a lipstick using only my mouth. The performance ends once I had chosen a lipstick and my body reached its physical limit.

  1. This "performance" is a worthy competitor to the guy who lies in a body bag on the floors of WalMart stores.
Both of these "artists" probably should keep their day jobs, if only they had one.
But that's the price you pay for being part of "The Creative Class".
You really can't make this stuff up.

  2. Aesthetic bankruptcy. There's a difference between 'look at me' exhibitionism and art.

  4. I would rather see her giant tits.

  5. Performance art. Like when a guy pisses in a cup on stage, and then drinks it.

  6. I think this performance took some thought. Really surprised that nobody mentioned her hairy pits. That may be a fashion choice and it's her right bUT you don't see that very often in KC. Good for her! She seems very sure of herself and that is not a bad thing.

  7. Maybe she could afford a decent razor if she'd bought fewer lipsticks. Are you sure, she's sure? Coulda been buzzed.

  8. One of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen, passing for art. And the people are standing around like at a party, totally ignoring her.

  9. Reminds me of Talis Bergmanis hoping sarcastically that the Republicans pick Trump as a candidate. Karma is a bitch.
