Kansas City offers repair assistance to lower income homeowners

Kansas City housing officials are accepting applications for the city's Home Repair program. Funds are income-based and are awarded first-come, first-served, said Stuart Bullington, program administrator. "This year we changed the income guidelines from 50% to 80% of median income," Bullington said.

  2. Northland Neighborhoods offered a similar home repair program years ago. Our elderly and very poor neighbor applied for new windows to be installed. The work was shoddy, to say the least. We watched as he spent most of his time on his cell phone, and he even brought his kids to sit in his truck while he jammed the windows into the old frames. They leak to this day, and the poor woman died trying to get NN to do something. I looked into this scheme and found that you have to divulge all kinds of personal information to God knows who. Tax returns, social security numbers are in SOMEONE'S hands, and quite frankly I wouldn't take the chance.

  3. Don't worry it's only for the people in the hood, no one in the rest of the city can apply and the program only has Jamaicans doing the work
