Afternoon murder raises the local body count even higher as neighbors notice an inner-city man lying in the street after a gunfight.

KSHB: Police say that bystanders flagged down a patrol car and said there was a man lying on the ground near 12th and Prospect.
Northeast News: The victim was later declared deceased by KCFD responders. He was described as a black male in his twenties.
This is the 39th homicide so far this year compared with 34 at this time last year and the highest number for this date on the calendar in the past five years.
The police are urging anyone with information related to the shooting to call 911 or the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-8477.
