Dead-Tree Media Pens Retirement Love Letter To Police Chief Forté Amid Increased Violence And Ongoing Kansas City Homicide Spike

Murders are up 20% this year and the spike was double digits last year . . . However, civic elite and their fading newspaper continue to describe the tenure of the outgoing Chief as a success. Here's the latest bit of hype . . .

KC Police Chief Darryl Forté quietly puts down his badge

Darryl Forté's plan this week was to quietly ease his way into retirement. Serving nearly six years as the Kansas City police chief, Forté has spent countless late nights and early mornings at homicide scenes. While out there, Forté used his Twitter account to feed followers updates and photos of detectives and the women and men in uniform.

Crime is as High as Ever.
    The Department is a mess.
And the Taxpayers paid for all of it.

  5. GOOD FUCKING RIDDANCE.
You left the department in shambles.
Hey Tony, how many blacks were murdered under forte's tenure? And, how many fewer officers does the department have now compared to when he started his reign of compensation?

  7. Black reporter trying to cover for a black chief. No surprise there. He's been in bed, probably literally, with Forte from the beginning. Forte ripped off the taxpayers for hundreds of thousands of dollars. It doesn't matter if the ghetto residents supported him, he was ineffective in his job. If he was white, he would have been labeled a complete failure who didn't care about the ghetto. Because he's black, they won't throw him under the bus.

  8. The past 5 years have been a huge disappointment. Everyone expected and hoped for so much more but we didn't get that. The next chief, regardless of who he or she may be or what they may look like, will have a tough job right away trying to gain/regain the trust of the men and women of this department. They will need to change several things in order to get people where they are actually needed and stop promoting people to one and two-person assignments and putting officers and commanders into "special projects" where no results are produced. He or she will have their work cut out for them - let's hope they are ready for these responsibilities and that they can discharge their duties with fairness, intelligence, and with the good of the department at heart.

  12. Isn't is interesting that in 2014 when the department's internal audit manager asked to look into overtime, evaluate the so called "hot spot" program and NOVA for effectiveness and to take a closer look at the take home car program in short order he got laid off and the Internal Audit Unit that had existed since 1979 was disbanded?

  13. Continuing from above...an anonymous report came in on some improper practices by a certain Major concerning the off-duty system as well. This report came secretly to the audit unit manager. Hmmmmmmm!

  14. Nothing will change. The next chief will be another unqualified, inept negro just like Forte. He may not be as corrupt as Forte, but in time will learn to work the system, as well as any negro does.
