COUNCIL THWARTS MAYOR SLY AND NEW KANSAS CITY AIRPORT OPEN TO BIDS BEYOND BURNS & MAC INSIDER DEAL!!!

Mayor Sly's ram through has been overturned and he's getting ready to dance his way around a major defeat in delivering EPIC PORK to his corporate pals.

Take a look . . .

KC Biz Journal: Kansas City officials plan to issue a request for proposals Tuesday that will open up the single-terminal modernization of Kansas City International Airport to a bidding process.

Like it or not, this is a win for capitalism, the council and basic human decency as the NO BID BURNS & MAC deal was the biggest sticking point for critics of a new airport and one of the most indefensible aspects of the project.

Update: "KCMO City Manager Troy Schulte is opening the solicitation process for qualified companies interested in designing, building and privately financing a single terminal at Kansas City International Airport.

"Schulte is directing the Procurement Division to publish a Request for Qualifications/Proposals (RFQ/P) for the KCI Terminal Modernization. The proposal will include the requirements that have been the focal points of recent discussions and will reflect what the airlines agreed to a year ago . . ."

  1. Fuck Burns & McDouche. They should know better even if Sly doesn't. Greedy cocksuckers.

  2. The council wouldn't have opposed it if they were getting paid off as much as Sly. They just wanted their share. Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered. Sly is a fat pig nig who wanted to hog the whole payoff

  3. This may look like a loss for the mayor, but think again. Prior to this no bid fiasco, a new airport was just a dream that the mayor and a few other tax and spenders had. Now we are taking bids. Looks like the Sly one has had his way with us again.

  4. This is nothing more than a shakedown of Burns and Mac by all the councilmembers running for Mayor. Burns and Mac will get the bid in the end despite the charade of "competition."

Keep an eye on the fundraiser circuit....

  5. I agree 1:27

In the past voters said "NO"

This seems to be a way of getting around that.

It should be NO rebuilding of the airport.

  6. I guess getting out of the car, walking into the terminal and getting on the plane isn't modern enough.

  7. 1:36 There has been no vote on the airport, just some signatures on a petition. It appears you are against all voters having their say.

  8. Does the FBI not care about corruption anymore?

  9. Star just changed their headline trying to give Sly credit for this. Without people putting pressure on him, he was happy to try and slam this bad deal through and even had his minions defend it.

The big loser in all of this is Pat Mcinerney who actually had to go out and defend the horrible no bid plan. No credibility left anymore after that. His boss didn't care about his reputation, just used him on a losing deal.

    Thanks Sly!

  10. @1:27, that's cynical! I hadn't thought about it in that light, but you're definitely on to something. It has shifted what opinion I hear to open bids for reconstruction instead of the previous why fix what's not broken.

  11. Yeah what did the Airlines agree to 1 year ago?

  12. 1:27 has nailed it--Sly has shifted to The Assumed Close. No vote on IF, just WHO.

Sly James is to KCMO what Oscar Goodman was to Vegas. Let's not forget that back in the day, when the Mafia first ran Vegas, Kansas City was their HQ for "juice loans".

Watching this council juggle all their No Bid giveaways to campaign contributors is breathtaking. Now with the sly sidestep shuffle, the fake "bid it out". Between KCI, Mike Burke's downtown hotel scam, and the streetcar extension that will levy "special assessment" fees of at least $10 grand a year for 25 years on churches including Visitation and Redemptorist, this is a game of Whack-A-Mole.

  13. 2:01 pm - Apparently, the Feds don't care. Many problems in Clay, Jackson and of course, KCMO. Even local law enforcement knows the problems and crimes, yet nada. I have heard various cases being turned over to the MO Highway Patrol and then to the New AG in MO, but all is quiet on all fronts.

  15. TKC, thank you for shining some disinfecting light on the crony deal.

  16. Will people look at Sly and BM the same in the future?

  17. Burns and Mac may still get this corrupt deal yet, mayor bullhorn is only giving other business's until 6/20, that's three weeks folks to put a multi billion dollar plan together. Seems pretty impossible to me. Burns and Mac is probably still getting this sweetheart deal and the bullhorn's legacy of f-ing the citizens is still intact

  18. Yeah, it's likely a sham RFP, too, if it's three weeks.

And, where's the due diligence on the "unique" financial structure?

It'll take true finance expertise to analyze the billion-plus commitment.

This whole non-process looks like idiots stumbling along.

    Vote no.

  20. You can't blame burns and Mac, it's that lying cheating mayor sLIE who's trying to pull a fast one

  21. Typical politics in #KorruptCity. Everyone knows Burns and Mac will get this in the end. They'll be deemed the "best bid" when it's all said and done. S'lie and whichever council members that decide to hop in the bed will get their cut from B&M and the corruption will continue. Business as usual.

S'lie and a lot of other politicos like to tout "Public/private partnerships". Consider this: A great man once said that "50/50 is a partnership. 90/10 is employment". I don't work for Burns and Mac or Hyatt or Cordish. Yet they get my money and I get scraps, if that, in return. That's not a "partnership". That's my city government DONATING my money to private entities while they get kickbacks and I get my taxes raised. "Public/Private partnerships" my ass. This is just short of thievery.

  23. This first victory wouldn't have happened without this TKC blog and the tipsters contributing.

    Salute!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Of course this "fair" process is designed exactly like job positions with the city. They design the requirements to match perfectly with what B&M had proposed and then no other company can accomplish the requirements for a myriad of reason including the fact that they were not paid by the city to cook up the design. This is just another dog and pony show that will result in B&M taking the prize.
