TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY WESTSIDE RESIDENTS DEMAND AIRBNB CRACKDOWN AMID HORRIFIC GENTRIFICATION SCHEME!!!

Kansas City 4th District residents in the know are raging at their City Council members for dragging their feet on regulation that's threatening to destroy local neighborhoods by way of tech scene speculators.

Not so long ago, KCMO took up the plight of developing rules for AirBnB operators:

"Rental properties like Airbnb’s will soon face regulation in Kansas City. The city recently released the first draft of a new policy aimed at regulating the more than 300 short-term rental properties."

The rules were stringent but mostly fair and involved resident investment in homes to avoid turning every neighborhood into a hotel district.

Sadly, the effort to put forward regulation has stalled.

Now . . .

KANSAS CITY WESTSIDE RESIDENTS ARE PLAGUED WITH AIRBNB SPECULATORS CROPPING UP AROUND THE ROASTERIE OPPERATING WITHOUT ANY OVERSIGHT!!!

Just as we predicted, the stupid Roasterie plane has attracted some of the worst people in all of the metro . . .

But here's the worst part . . .

The AirBnB operators aren't really invested or interested in the betterment of Kansas City neighborhoods. Instead,  they're buying up cheap houses, turning them into AirBnBs and then running mini Kansas City hotels at the expense of their neighbors. This trend started on the Westside but now our KICK-ASS KANSAS CITY BLOG COMMUNITY notes that Northland neighbors are coping with the same kind of sketchy Internets hotel biz across the bridge because of airport proximity.

Just like the ride-share controversy . . . This isn't about tech . . . Instead the grassroots movement simply wants local biz people to follow the same rule.

Developing . . .

  1. Waldo is having the same problem. It's becoming a Plaza airbnb for hipsters on a budget.

    1. Airbnb is just another online ripoff. it only works out for the internet company. Hosts don't get enough money for their trouble and guests are not only disappointed but likely in danger because they're willing to cut corners. Hotels can be a pain in the ass but these things are just a waste of everyone's time. I would hope the market would bring a solution to the problem but it looks like City Hall has to get involved to save greedy people from themselves.

  3. Same Problem exists in Brookside. Some Looser Doctor living in Jeff City has Airbnb'd rooms in his home. Cars are parked all over the street. and renters show up all hours of the night knocking on neighbors doors asking where is the Airbnb. City code demands that guest park on property- Since Sly refuses to enforce the codes its pandemonium. He allows pets. -what does that mean? These "guests" show up with their dogs and tie them up in the backyard where they bark all night driving the neighbors nuts. Jolie Justus and the near felon Katherine Shields won't help.

  4. 4th District has no real leadership, just greedy women obsessed with their own careers or agendas.

  5. Blah blah blah. Move north of the river.

  6. Pathetic. What you are missing is the fact monthly rent is increasing thereby making more incentives to live short-term homeless; go Airbnb a few few times per week rather than rent. You can f*ck for money too! Things are really looking up.

  10. Anonymous at 6:17 says "move North of the River".... Unless you make sure NOT to live in KCMO, moving north won't solve your problems. In fact, the 4th district extends in a narrow slice north - so we get no justice from Justus.

  11. Many speculators are committing mortgage fraud.
There is a,Southmorland Airbnb owner who has 9 houses ALL listed as his owner occupied residence.
