THE TKC SATURDAY NIGHT PLAYLIST!!! KANSAS CITY VOTERS STRUGGLE TO SOLVE COSTLY CITY HALL COUNTING PROBLEM!!!

Behind the scenes there's a crisis to hold City Hall and local politicos accountable for the fuzzy math that's often touted in support of sketchy taxpayer subsidized projects.

A few examples . . .

The Kansas City toy train streetcar purportedly approaches 2 million riders before the one year anniversary of the faux transit line but those figures are SUSPICIOUSLY higher than any similar line in the nation and have consistently drawn criticism from local tax fighters as the extension effort seeks another QUARTER BILLION DOLLARS to expand justified only by the mail-in, mostly secret and gerrymandered votes of a few hundred people.

And then, this week Mayor Sly TOUTED THE HIGHLY SUSPECT 25 MILLION KCMO TOURIST NUMBER in support of an even more controversial taxpayer subsidized hotel that's getting $35 MILLION IN CASH from City Hall coffers. Correspondingly, that figure puts Kansas City tourism ahead of Paris, France, Washington D.C. and San Francisco among many other notable destinations.

All of this data is important because these stats drive REAL DOLLAR NUMBERS like the $800 MILLION that taxpayers recently approved without many binding clauses regarding how the cash will be spent over the next 40 years.

And so . . .

GIVEN THE DEMISE OF THE LEGACY MEDIA: KANSAS CITY TAX FIGHTERS STRUGGLE TO CHALLENGE THE VALIDITY OF MAYOR SLY AND CITY HALL FAKE NEWS STATS!!!

Here at TKC our blog community is comfortable with simply offering comparisons to bigger and better cities that highlight the incredulity with which these phony numbers should be met. And then we let our blog community decide for themselves.

And so, this evening we offer our playlist for consideration on the topic of counting, number crunching and the sounds that define our culture . . . Other than the cash registers of the developer class constantly ringing as urban core keeping picking up their tab:

As always, thanks for reading this week and have a safe and fun Saturday night.

  1. You forgot about consultants counting their big, fat paychecks. That's part of what keeps that money train rolling.

    1. If you're counting on city hall to be honest, you might want to forget it. Just look their citizen satisfaction numbers which have been phony since the late 80s.
