Tonight Kansas City voters approved a citywide one-eighth-cent sales tax to be used solely for economic development along the Prospect Corridor.
The Central City Economic Development Initiative passed this way:
Yes - 59.89%
No - 40.11%
Expect more fighting over this one when it comes to how this cash is going to be divided up given a great deal of vague deets.
Nevertheless, it's another sign that highly motivated activists won the day for a measure that was universally derided by old school mainstream media pundits and politicos.
Developing . . .
K....
ReplyDeleteThis was the question I felt had the most impact for KC. I am happy to see that a grassroots effort was able to earmark funding for the East Side.
ReplyDeleteKC....amongst the world dumbest voters
ReplyDeleteOMG. This city is f'ed up. This just proves that the voters will pass anything. Thank God for Amazon and other cities close enough to shop in. I spend as little in KC as possible.
ReplyDeleteJust saw the logo. Crime reduction. L.O.L. The age old promise that throwing money at something will fix the problem. If only.
ReplyDeleteIt's already worked so well. How much for the so-called Jazz District? I am sure that this money will be just as well spent. Never underestimate stupid.
ReplyDelete10:46 Amazon charges sales tax. If you don't like it move. I hear Johnson County has almost no taxes...
ReplyDeleteWouldn't just be easier to grab a huge pile of money and light it on fire? There is little to no strategy on how these funds will be spent. Have you driven through the area? No grassroots effort to improve.
ReplyDeleteToo bad. It passed and you people are powerless to a damn thing about it but bitch like the butt-hurt shit-flakes you are. Tell your story walkin' pal. Your dismissed!
ReplyDeleteIt will be repealed. I'm betting many yes voters didn't realize the tax applies everywhere in the City. The language was misleading. A few signatures on a petition and the repeal is almost certain.
