  1. About time. Council should have put it on the ballot in the first place!

  2. I bet Sly is shitting in his pants. Especially when all the layoff's hit the media.

  3. Weed legalization is on the ballot for April too TKC. This should be a fun vote.

  4. Yes KCMO needs as many stoned space cases as it can get.

  5. The legality of this type of approach isn't going to fly. All that needs to be done is the employers, starting with the city gov of kcmo, to start immediately paying 15$/hr to its lowest paid workers- and the rest will follow. Just do it. It does not take a law to pay your employee 15$/hr. They will greatly appreciate it and work hard for you and you will work 'em hard too. Friggin' simple.

  6. Mot so damn simple when you, as the consumer or small business owner is forced to give your money away because some dreg is too damn lazy to further himself so he can qualify for a job that actually does pay more. This is nothing but welfare paid by everyone, except the one person who could have sone something about his situation.

Retail is already on the ropes with online shopping and diners will pass up the plaza and crossroads for Overland Park, Lees Summit and other places where they refuse to have their pockets picked. When tax revenue actually goes down lets see how much these $15.00 and hour burger sackers are going to be paying.

  7. wow.

now, the corrupt, pandering establishment will have to explain why it's a bad idea!

or, risk an economic disaster for the city.

    most interesting situation.

  10. Time to give power back to the people!

we need these workers in our city. It's time to pay them fairly.

  11. 531, then watch the layoffs begin and politicians run for cover if this goes through, cause taxes will go UP and people will be voting out every politician

  12. I wish they would raise the min wage to $38 an hour. These workers deserve to make this much! I would not mind paying a little extra for a burger... a Big Mac would likely only cost $12 and a 3 piece gig of chicken only $32. Soft drinks should only be $8 andthey could charge $6 to go to the bathroom. A gallon of gas would only need to be $7 a gallon. Clearly this is a win-win.
And since Sly is such genius- he could raise taxes 200 %.
He could tax KC into prosperity... this works out great... ask Detroit!

  13. No sarcasm here...

  14. So is this coalition of clergy going to pay all their staff $15 an hour?

  15. Do as we say not as we do

  16. Fine, ket actual working people bitch-slap these retards back to their no-talent minimum wage jobs. Maybe they can get a liberal arts, women's studies etc. degree to improve their salary opportunities.

    BWaa Haaa Haa!

  17. Can't wait for the latest smoke and mirrors job from Sly's PR department

  18. Why is no one protesting the inflated cost of living.

  19. McDonald's have automated kiosks ready. Half the workers will be laid off if this is voted in.

  20. Local business bankruptcy lawyers are cheering for it no doubt.

  24. Look at all that EXPENSIVE signage.... Who pays for all those banners, signs....All those printing fees? Really who is paying for all that?

Certainly NOT THESE LOSERS HOLDING THE SIGNS...

    But somebody is.

That's who we need to hang by the balls.

  25. Endless marches, protests, and demands.
    Murder rate rising every month.
Water bills going through the roof.
Petition drives placing one issue after another on the ballot.
Desperate misleading campaigning trying to get an $800 million bond issue passed.
KCMO spinning out of control with apparently no one at the wheel.
Meanwhile the city council and a whole menagerie of agencies just keeps shoveling tax money out the door for insiders and supporters.
It's really too bad KCMO doesn't have a city government.

  26. 9:27 Shame on you!

  27. Too bad nobody here ever thinks of moving somewhere else if they're so dissatisfied.

But, if you're that dumb, hey - run with it.

    ReplyDelete
  28. This whole thing, like most things in KCMO, is ridiculous. It's the adult version of "everyone gets a trophy so no one feels bad." Half of these fast food workers don't know which end of the paper bag to put the food in, but a bunch of libtards have decided they're worth $15/hr??? WTF??? On the other hand, people who start off at the low wages and show positive traits like hard work, ambition and dependability rarely fail to move up, take classes, etc. to advance their earning potential. But why reward personal achievement?

    ReplyDelete
  29. This is a pretty misleading post. Nothing happened and no one has won anything yet. This is nothing more than the judge saying not to do anything until the court reviews the arguments on Monday.

    ReplyDelete
  30. They keep saying that and it keeps going forward.

    Pay the workers fairly!
