El Bryan And The Safety Dance

A brilliant comic clowning recent silent protest featured in Retorts Illustrated penned by Bryan Stalder inspires more than a bit of angry pushback.

Northeast News Letter to the Editor reaction:

The “little woman crybaby.” No one could miss the crude and misogynistic statements by the incoming president during and revealed by the campaign. It is not at all unreasonable to understand that our aspiring young women, homemakers, and working and professional women might feel uneasy about their roles and voices in our society. That someone would portray their feelings as “crybaby” is beyond our ethical understanding!

Second, there is the safety pin. It has recently become a symbol of the personal statement, “You may feel safe in my presence. I will not pre-judge you or fear you because you are different in color, nationality, dress, gender, or religion than I.” If Stalder actually intended to belittle that gesture, we are sorry for him.

As always, we advise locals to bring their sense of humor and check out Bryan's latest.

  1. These snowflakes better get off their high horse. El Bryan needs to keep doing what's he's doing.

  2. I did not vote for Trump, but I accept that he will be president for the next four years. I am getting a tad fed up with people who will not accept reality. True, Clinton won the popular vote. If that offends anyone, then work to get rid of the electoral system, which, when it has gone against the popular vote, has done so 100% for Republicans since 1876. Otherwise, quit whining.

When I see statements such as the one about the safety pin, I see something like "You may feel safe in my presence. I will not pre-judge you or fear you because you are different in color, nationality, dress, gender, or religion than I--unless you did not vote the way I did, in which case you are a racist, sexist, homophobic, Nazi fascist scumbag, and I will not acknowledge your right to exist, much less have an opinion with which I do not agree."

  3. There is no "We" Tony. The nutty left shit is "You".

  4. The letter writers start by saying they appreciate edgy commentary even though they may disagree with it. Then they spend the rest of their letter condemning edgy commentary that they disagree with. Say one thing, do another: it's the liberals' way!
