ReplyDeleteAn 11 year old girl is probably a foot taller and 50 pounds heavier than a 9 year old boy. I am not going to dis Mom for intervening. Girls that age can be very mean. A better option would have been to go to authorities (at the school, to the police, etc.). Unfortunately, it doesn't always work. When our daughter was in high school, she ratted out a kid who was smoking weed in class. When she was threatened by some of his so-call friends, I called the school counselor. The reaction was, "Well what did she expect when she told?"
ReplyDeleteAfter she was threatened by a young "lady" in Daddy's Mercedes, I called Daddy and asked him for his insurance information. He was a "high powered" attorney, and was very offended until I told him what his daughter did in his car. I just told him that if she really did run our daughter over, she would go to jail and he would pay. When he realized his assets and daughter were on the line, the threats stopped. That was 20 years ago, and I suspect that his daughter gave him a whole lot more trouble than I did. If not, he was very lucky.

ReplyDeleteWhen my sister was in the sixth grade she was the tallest person in the building, including the adults. She came home crying one day, pointing out just this. We assured her that the boys her age would catch up to her in time, that boys & girls didn't grow at the same rate.
Two weeks after her 18th birthday, on my 22nd birthday, she married a man who was 6'2" tall (only an inch shorter than her).
