KANSAS CITY CHIEFS FANS MOSTLY OUTRAGED OVER MARCUS PETERS NATIONAL ANTHEM PROTEST LOCAL MAINSTREAM MEDIA DOWNPLAYS!!!
In one of the best discussions we've ever had on this blog regarding mostly pointless pro-football, a consideration of protest from Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Marcus Peters inspired a great many strong opinions.
Moreover . . .
OUR TKC BLOG COMMUNITY CONSIDERS THE MARCUS PETERS NATIONAL ANTHEM ONGOING PROTEST WHILST MAINSTREAM MEDIA IGNORES THE ONGOING DRAMA!!!
The KC Chief pushing back on the anthem started on the 9/11 anniversary and then continued last week . . .
As promised . . . Here are some of the most thoughtful considerations from our blog community . . .
Question Of Leadership . . .
"One has a first amendment right to protest and as an employer I have a right to fire employees. That Clark Hunt doesn't release this jerk shows where his priorities are."
Alternative Scenario . . .
"What would happen to a player who gave a Nazi salute during the national anthem? Think his first amendment rights would be respected? If not then its not about the first amendment, its about the NFL cowering to its employees."
Pay For Play???
"Outside of the fact he's a JERK and clearly doesn't respect our country and its icons, he apparently needed that water 'cause he got BURNED at least twice yesterday in that sad excuse for a game. Marcus, stick to games and leave the important issues - like patriotism and love of country - to real Americans who give a damn about our freedoms...which BTW allow you and others like you to do the stupid stuff you do."
Quick Response . . .
^^^ you can't have it both ways. Either our soldiers are fighting for our freedom, or they're fighting to preserve fascism."
Salary Consideration . . .
"While 2016 has been an unusual political year, I think it would be a great exaggeration to equate 2016 to the events of 1968. Colin Kaepernick of the San Francisco 49ers, signed a contract paying him an average annual salary of $19 million dollars. What do you think Tommie Smith and Juan Carlos would think of that? Marcus Peters is a 23-yr. old man-child. His NFL contract has a total value of $9,584,160 (avg. $2,396,040/year; $9,584,160 fully guaranteed). Perhaps what's going on here, is that we have 2 multimillionaire drama queens who've gone more than 15 minutes without a stroke, and were in desperate need of a social media hit fix. As long as Kaepernick and Peters don't bother anyone else, and are willing to risk public opinion turning against them, then they can do whatever they wish, and we can either choose to notice them or not."
You decide . . .
