  1. What is new about a teacher being lazy? No homework means less work for the teacher.

  2. Sound great. Next no class. Stay at home and enjoy your family.

  3. One millennial lazy ass teacher in America, too lazy to grade papers, and millions of even more lazy ass parents jump on the band wagon. Applying the same logic there is really no need for students to go to school. They could just be given assignments and sit in their fat asses at home and do their work using the Internet. Look at the billions we could save building the day care centers we now call schools. Look at the billions we could save hiring teachers. Look at the billions we would save on school bands, athletics and other useless competitions. Hell yes, lets do it. If we do it right our white kids will be just like ghetto product and never work, produce or be subject to benchmarks. I'm all for making a single teacher's job a get-over position and applying all the pretzel logic available to make it sound as if it makes sense and is a good thing.

  4. You guys don't have school age kids do you? The amount of homework my kids have is ridiculous. From after dinner till bedtime. My oldest frequently misses her bedtime doing homework on top of the hours she spends every weekend on it. She's an honor roll student too. There is no way she can hold a part time job like I did in high school. My fifth grader has a whopping 15 minutes a day of recess, oh and her lunch is at 10:41 where she gets 15 minutes to eat. Then it's back to class to sit for hours on end repeating stuff to regurgitate for Kansas standardized tests. Some homework is one thing but what we have now is absurd.

  5. I would have never made it through any of my college courses all those many years ago if it wasn't for the fundamental experience of learning how and to apply myself to doing homework during my younger years in school. There is no way a teacher can say they can still teach a student a course in education in the same amount of time minus any homework and have taught that student as thoroughly as the students in my years of attending school did.

Now if only I had applied myself in English classes as well as I had physics and mathematics I would have better English skills. God I hated English.

  6. I think the question should be "Does homework make a difference in a student's performance?" I maintain that we should rethink homework in the early grades. I am retired now, but when I regularly worked over an 8 hour day, my accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness definitely declined after 8 hours. Why would we think that children would be different? Is that extra homework really working?
I think that a lot of homework indicates other problems with the system or with the individual student. These kids are in school about 7 hours a day I think that is enough, especially in elementary school. How many adults bring work home every night? I know that some do, but most of us manage not to do it very often because we don't want to. Why would children be different?

  7. Lets just skip school and everyone just sit at home waiting on that government check every month. Who needs an education and learning how to study.

  8. What the fuck is with this place? Do people think they have kids and they just fly in auto pilot from birth, No wonder we have a generation of wirthless, self serving, lazy, smart ass, shit bags raised by a bunch of hormonal fucking broads.

  9. I guarantee kids have way, way more homework than anyone commenting here did than when you were in school. It starts every night from kindergarten on. My oldest daughter has eight hours of school and day, cheer practice, then at least four hours of homework every night. She also does several hours worth every weekend and is on the honor roll. How are the "C" students doing it? Just like your work, if you aren't getting what needs done in 40-50 hours a week, something is wrong.

  10. Losers. Compare Euro kids and Asian kids... you call this homework?

  11. Just read the parents here defending their kids from homework as if anyone ever dies from it. Gee all that pressure. God forbid we'd teach the rug rats to work hard. I guess if parents can't add and subtract their kids don'[t need to either. After all they will soon graduate and be making $15.00 and hour at Hooters.

  12. Love all the stone-throwers here that didn't have anywhere near the homework kids today have. I'm guessing you don't have kids because you seem to think 25 hours of homework and week is cool. I would like to be able to spend time with my daughter, not have her at the kitchen table for 4-5 hours every night and on weekends doing fucking homework. Some is one thing, what they have now is another.
