SHAME!!! WITHOUT CITYWIDE VOTING THE KANSAS CITY TOY TRAIN STREETCAR EXTENSION IS NOTHING MORE THAN A DESPICABLE ASSAULT ON DEMOCRACY!!!

Here's a bit of a shocker . . . Our TKC editorial board isn't entirely opposed to a streetcar extension and it might be not only personally useful but also a great attraction for Midtown Kansas City.

However . . .

THE SHAMEFUL, DESPICABLE, MANIPULATIVE AND UNDEMOCRATIC METHOD USED TO PIECEMEAL STREETCAR VOTING AUTHORITY OF THIS MASSIVE PROJECT IS NOTHING LESS THAN OUTRIGHT CORRUPTION FROM CITY HALL AND EVERY PAID CONSULTANT, LAWYER AND POLITICO WHO ENDORSES THIS DESPOTIC SCHEME!!!

The fanciful plan is based on deception and phony accounting that we all know simply isn't correct.

City Hall does in fact fund the streetcar and will continue to do so. All residents and voters eventually end up paying for the streetcar and recent budget cuts to police, neighborhood services and infrastructure maintenance reflect as much.

Still, if Kansas City voters THROUGHOUT THE CITY decide streetcar expansion is a priority in an election that's representative of EVERY TAX PAYER in town - Then it's a gamble worth taking!!!

You read that right . . . Our denizens of the editorial board don't think this is a necessarily a bad idea and building on the streetcar could make it something more than a toy train.

BUT GERRYMANDERING VOTES AGAINST DEMOCRATIC KANSAS CITY TAXPAYER REPRESENTATION CONTINUES A DANGEROUS PRACTICE ADOPTED BY TOY TRAIN STREETCAR CHEERLEADERS THAT ULTIMATELY WEAKENS OUR LOCAL ELECTORATE!!!

Kansas City Democracy is more important than any transit effort. Sadly, we don't expect a Mayor who was elected by a tiny portion of the city would understand the implications of this dictatorial action -- The legacy of Sly James has been to almost single-handedly disenfranchise voters throughout Kansas City and decrease voter participation overall.

The daily newspaper that receives its funding through similar tax schemes is failing to protect our Democracy but we can only hope that somebody/anybody who reads this might raise this important point that the entire city is on the hook and will pay the price of the streetcar but are unjustly excluded from a vote in its construction.

You decide . . .

  1. Tk, did you know that Hitler wasn't democratically elected as the pop culture saying goes. He actually got his way by corrupting Democracy and using it to his advantage to gain power by a weakened voting base.

    Sound familiar.

And right out of the gate we have somebody breaking goodwin's law.

Isn't that the way it always works?

  4. I'm sorry, didn't voters already tell these people NO?!

  6. It's amazing the lengths that Sly James and his friends will go to in order to disenfranchise Black voters.

  10. i will never vote for it unless they change the name to the Chastian line. after all it was his idea and the one who honstley worked it

  11. Consultants don't care about Democracy, only how to manipulate it.

    ReplyDelete
  12. It's really simple. This is going to be another fiasco like the original vote.

People who own property within this farce but live outside the boundary of it but still live in the county will not be allowed to vote.. they will have to raise rents on their tenants, people who make 27,000 a year will have to struggle with a streetcar tax added to their bill, etc, etc, etc, the list goes on.....

This fucker needs to be killed off permanently at the voting booths and sane people be put in charge of our transportation policy instead of a bunch of out of state rural rubes who's only skill set is looting and stealing from the public for their own personal gain.

  13. Tony, when you're right you're right! Shame on non voters.

  14. And the downtown folks will continue to enjoy lowering property values, special tax cuts and tax breaks, subsidies, and all while enjoying their roof pool on top of One Light where streetcar dignitaries are lodged and put up when they are in town for some hype fest courtesy of the taxpayers.

    ReplyDelete
  15. 3:00 Increasingly, those folks are voting with their feet and going to good school districts near decent housing and caring communities. Some are not returning to their hometown KC following college, service deployments, or coupling elsewhere.

  16. Just cut a couple hundred million from the police department budget.

    Toy train paid for!

    What a pair!

  18. The Plaza doesn't want this sales tax, businesses next to stateline don't want this sales tax, the westside probably doesn't want this sales tax. So they couldn't get the poor black people to pay for it now they are going to try get other suckers.

  19. I don't live there but I did ride the trolley once a few weeks ago. If it gets people to spend their extra money along main street it has to be a winner for the whole city! We may go downtown next year and will ride it again!

  20. Yup okay Mildred

  21. Downtown can't even afford this thing much less pay it off before it falls apart and reaches end of life in 30 years and has to be replaced.

    ReplyDelete
  22. There is nothing more democratic than allowing those people who will pay for the system to vote on it.

The map looks pretty accurate to the 1/3 mile distance, with a couple of exceptions. If those exceptions have properties with eligible voters, then there is a problem. If they are vacant or open space, then no harm.

  23. What's funny (and also pathetic) is that TKC, with a staff of ONE, actually has HALF the number of people as the KC Star editorial board.
    World class!

  24. OUTRIGHT CORRUPTION FROM CITY HALL AND EVERY PAID CONSULTANT, LAWYER AND POLITICO WHO ENDORSES THIS DESPOTIC SCHEME!!!

    My compliments Tony.

    You sound fucking insane.

If that's what you were shooting for, you were successful.

  25. ^^^ Maybe it's sticker shock from the insane price tag of the streetcar extension?

  26. Let within the tax district property owners vote no matter where they live. The property will be in the tax district permanently. The people who live in the district are mostly renters, who will be gone when the scheiss hits the fan. Make it less of a legal scam than it is going to be otherwise.

    ReplyDelete
  27. What they are doing is they want to try to railroad this thing over the public before the line has been tested and evaluated and the real numbers (losses) come out. They also would like it if they can double whammy people with property and streetcar tax increases during the next assessment cycle which is next year if they can get this on the ballot this year.

  28. Yeah we've got to start saving our money! We've got to feed the negroes. They are hungry. If their basic needs of crap food, liquor, drugs, rap music and ugly fat white women are satisfied, then they can be mildly peaceful.

But the negro must be fed, and housed and given medical care when shot and stabbed or when their skin becomes chalky. Negroes are like a delightful creature you might want to add to your terrarium. They are colorful and exciting to watch, but they must be fed and cared for. Sure, their upkeep is horribly expensive. But think about what they give us, entertainment. They add a kind of dangerous element to life that appears to keep the white people interested. Without them, life would be like the old Leave it to Beaver TV show. And who wants that?

  29. Bend over, taxpayers. You're going to get a toy train up your collective asses whether you want it or not.

  30. Let Jolie Justus be the 1st casualtie of Mayor Slydog's despicable administration.

  31. Can you really see those overhead electrical lines in the PLAZA, like in Really ???

    Stupidest idea ever !!!

  32. I was initially going to support this folly ,unfortunately they have decided to increase the property tax boundaries.
UMKC is pushing heavily, then let UMKC and MAINCOR lay for it.
This plan is tbe epitome of arrogance.
They want middle class and poor homeowners to subsidize free fairs.
We can not clean out City Hall fast enough, 1st on the list to go bye bye,Jolie Justus.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yep, just another day in KC politics. See you guys at the streetcar extension groundbreaking. There better be free catered food.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I heard they are going to pay for with profits from selling aborted baby fetuses!

I think we should only let out of town property owners vote...see how that work for KCI, too.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Hey Peckerwoods? Sitting on your ass in the easy chair is the same as a vote for the libtards in this town. Get off your asses, vote and break the cycle of bullshit in Kansas Shitty.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Look, you can be for or against the streetcar expansion, but it is NOT undemocratic to form a special funding district based on the population of the district being able to vote. It can be a good or bad idea, but it is democratic.

Of course, absentee land owners and corporations do not get to vote -- but neither do they get to vote for Congress or Governor.

Would it be "more democratic" if one area of the City was able to squeak by with 50.0003% in a citywide election and tax the rest of the City for something that only benefits that one area? To have folks in the Northland and Eastside and far South pay for something that only directly benefits midtown? Or do you just want to be able to veto what you dislike under the guise of "democracy"?
