Opposition to Kansas City Mayor Sly James is growing from every direction and thanks to AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS we have word of another effort to challenge the current administration in the upcoming election.

To wit . . .

AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS ARE GETTING WORD OF A GROWING MOVEMENT TO ENCOURAGE G. JOSEPH McLINEY TO RUN FOR KANSAS CITY MAYOR!!!

This one is exceptionally sweet because Dead Tree Media can't see the mayoral contenders who contribute to their own editorial offerings. This is actually a star photo we're "borrowing" because of fair use and because McLiney supporters who are VERY CLOSE to the dude sent it our way . . . So the finicky lady editors shouldn't send us an angry e-mail.

Just a bit of background: Mr. McLiney earned more than a bit of recognition for his recent toy train editorial .. . He's part of a muni-bond company which might be a benefit given that this town's bond rating has been shaky for years.

Moreover . . .

CONSERVATIVES AND INFRASTRUCTURE ENTHUSIASTS ARE MAKING A STRONG PUSH TO ENCOURAGE A McLINEY MAYORAL BID!!!

Good hair and views that range from killing the minimum wage to outrage against taxi monopoly might make this amateur pundit appealing to the growing number of conservatives and Republicans in the Northbound.

Moreover, this guy clearly has civic council connection that could siphon Mayor Sly's support.

Accordingly, the movement to support Mr. McLiney represents growing frustration with Mayor Sly from yet another major contingent of Kansas City voters.

  1. Support from north of the river alone would win him and election against Sly.

  2. Anyone but Sly. Hell, Funkhouser was better than Sly.

  3. Killing the minimum wage? Sounds like a formula for assuring the re-election of mayor slime.

You fucking morons dot understand that the streetcar election wasn't a referendum on sly.

    Amateur hour.

  16. KC needs a fiscally conservative mayor and commission for about the next 15 years.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Sly will have opposition so I am gald for the choice because he is a terrible Mayor.

    ReplyDelete
  18. The streetcar election was not a referendum on Sly, but it certainly will become one unless he accepts the results and agrees at least to wait until the starter line is up, running AND successful before trying to force more rails on taxpayers.

    ReplyDelete
  19. We'll need to deport talent! I mean import it!

  21. "Moreover, this guy clearly has civic council connection that could siphon Mayor Sly's support. Siphon away Civic Council support? The pretend support they give? WTF world do you live in? The Civics supported Burke.

    ReplyDelete
  22. If he has Civic Council support that means he probably favors all forms of corporate welfare. If he doesn't support all the taxpayer giveaways they will never support him.

    ReplyDelete
  23. At least we know the streetcar would not be a priority in a McLiney administration, which would mean no city job for Mensa boy.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Nope. Thus isn't the right person either. We need someone who will focus on infrastructure and listens to the people not the rich developers.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Keep trying, Pat and Dan. Keep trying. You 2 yahoos seem to misunderstand the difference between the Eastside getting hoodwinked by their own uncle Tom leadership and the "city" being "mad" at Sly.

Go ahead, though, and prop up one of your Show-Me Institute Shills and their golf buddies for mayor and see how that goes. It'll make that Frank White and fireman union dude race look like a squeaker.

  26. Hey.. Thanks.
Every time I write about our ruling elite abusing their subjects, I get a request to run for office... Nobody has suggested a run for senator or the presidency, so, until then, I'm going to not take this newest request very seriously.

My wife, on the other hand, was thrilled to hear the news, but I don't think she understands there would be a pay cut.

  33. Kansas City’s $100 million streetcar starter line, which will begin running in 2015. It will include a stop right outside the 30-story office building, and the streetcar is one reason among many that the Commerce Tower Group, of which Mr. Knight is a partner, acquired the property just 70 days after he walked through it for the first time a year ago.

In October, the company plans to begin converting the 500,000-square-foot tower into a $90 million vertical city of residential and office space, and retailing and restaurants.

  37. Religious freak?
I know for a fact that he is Catholic... which means if he owns the Bible, he's never read it and it's only close at hand, because it levels out his drinking table.

And, because he's an Irish Catholic, we can rest assured he's not afraid of the drink....so I say lets lift a class with this white Irish-Mick who has little chance at ever being elected to a very liberal city like ours.
Cheers to ya McLiney ! Have fun with this...
