ReplyDeleteAirlines choose the size of aircraft and destinations by passenger demand, not some marketing scheme. And no one is going to fly a 1/4-filled 747 from KCI to Paris once a week.
ReplyDeleteInternational travelers from KC will go through San Francisco, LAX, Chicago, Dallas, New York, Boston, or Atlanta.This is just another pipe dream to get a consulting contract.
There's an endless supply of the public's money available in KCMO if you're the right insider.

ReplyDeleteThe non-hub cities usually have a corporate angel that sponsors the flight (like Cerner for example guaranteeing $$ per year for an airline to go to London.) It has nothing to do with the airport or some consultant putting together a million dollar powerpoint and a sack of ribs.
ReplyDeleteNote also that Van Loh says there are 300 people going to Europe during peak season. I guarantee they are not all going to the same place in Europe so guess what... still making a connection at a major hub.
Given the city can't get support to build a trolly to Gladstone, I'd suggest the city outsource the entire airport.

ReplyDelete7:53 is spot on. And I'd rather make that connection here in the US and fly non-stop to my final destination rather than worry about getting through customs before trying to find a connecting flight in a foreign airport.
