  9. If the writer and his wife commit their fair share of crime, then his conclusion seems reasonable.

    However, if they do NOT commit crime, then it raises the question as to why some residents show respect for others property and peace of mind, while others obviously do not. Please explore this question before shrugging your shoulders and accepting crime.
