Because or Kansas City blog community is NOW THE LEADER IN LOCAL FREE SPEECH AND OP/ED OPINION for both the for both the cowtown intelligentsia AND the broke-ass plebs . . . Right now we want to feature this KICK-ASS opinion on Dead Tree Media reporting.

CHECK THIS KANSAS CITY DEAD TREE MEDIA FACT CHECK ON TOY TRAIN AND TRANSPORTATION TAX REPORTING!!!

Here's a bit of data on the Missouri levy . . . Amendment 7: The Tax That Keeps On Taxing

And now, here's how it applies to the upcoming Toy Train streetcar . . .

Check it:

Letter to the Editor, Kansas City Star:

I do believe the Star loses credibility and does a tremendous disservice to its readers when it "phrases" things to further City Hall's agenda.

There are many examples everyday on the editorial page but one that was glaring on Saturday. In the "Streetcar" article on page A6, the writer states "if the state transportation tax passes, MoDOT pledged to contribute at least $144 million of those revenues to the Streetcar and Prospect MAX."

The writer makes it sound like a bride. If the voters pass amendment 7, MoDOT is going to send us this additional money, when in fact it is money we would get for roads and bridges as our share of the new tax. The way this was written was deceitful and misleading. They are paying us with our money for a project that is not worth the $60 million per mile price tag.

This was a "back room" deal done by the Mayor and MoDOT. In fact the City is not being honest with the Voters when they use the $60,000,000 per mile figure. The CATO institute reported in June 2014, the average cost for light rail, above ground, in twelve US Cities was averaging $109,000,000 per mile.

A VOTE FOR AMENDMENT #7 IS A VOTE FOR THE STREETCAR! VOTE NO AUGUST 5TH AMENDMENT #7

  2. Plan B. Only shop outside of any TDD zone. Sell when real estate hits a high just before it collapses.

Move somewhere sane where you don't need to have Westport High on your resume or Facebook page so you might actually have a shot at getting somewhere and prospering.

  3. August 5th. The great and almighty CK intelligence test.

For many it's going to be a signal to either stay or split this mess before it's too late.

  4. This going to be another of those famous CK record low voter turnout deals? Where 315 people decide the fate of the City?

  5. Nice Pic Tony. Is that the typical fee you charge for feature posts?

  6. In case your feeling trapped in your house with no buyers making offers. Record number of real estate purchases go to foreign buyers: Canadians target Las Vegas, Detroit Los Angeles, and Florida in General. Chinese targeting Los Angeles, San Francisco, Irvine, Las Vegas, Detroit, and Florida as well.

  10. Cable car transportation from the early 1900's attached to overhead wires.

Real futuristic thinking there. Are people really that stupid?

  11. No. You have to pass the Mensa test, be extraordinarily gullible, or work for or want to work for a streetcrt contractor to be that stupid.

  13. Haters need to come to grips with the reality that some can disagree and not be Mensa Boy.

Shit, I have gotten so exhausted from the endless bitching on this blog, that I find myself pulling for the damn thing.

  16. Don't worry the four horsemen of the TDD board will have the power to raise taxes, condemn property, and create havoc literally at will.

No doubt they are looking out for the best interests of everyone ahead of their own interests.

  17. I wonder if hipster's scratching a washboard while blowing balloons claiming to have invented music downtown in front of a we support the streetcar business will vote before moving to Brooklyn a week later.

  18. The anti car streetcar crew would probably be happier in New Orleans which has the fewest cars for a city it's size. Plus they can engage in debauchery seven days a week. Of course when Katrina hit guess who didn't make it out. That's right those who had to rely on mass transit.

  19. That's because Light Rails going in just like they wanted. If they would of done streetcars it would of been about $30 million a mile not counting bridges. Wait till they start taken people's land around the stations.

  23. 6:40: We know Mensa boy's not the only supporter, but I think it's safe to say he's the most irrational in terms of responses to anyone who disagrees with him, the one with the most self-interested motives, and the one most fun to parody, although it's increasingly difficult to parody him, since he's become a self-parody.

  24. Lets get a higher than 10% turn out at the polls. PEOPLE- if you aren't going to use or live by, if you will have just plain nothing to do with the toy train including knowing about it- vote NO. Don't let Sly and the CKstones just do what ever they want. It is OK to stop in your tracks, say NO, and change direction. Hell trying to work at city hall that's all you do is stop and go another direction, can't plan a function, get nothing done. Let's get the toy train and expanses- nothing done. Really

  25. Just because one soon-to-be- otherwise unemployable termed out council rep needs a job is not a reason to bankrupt this city.

    Vote no.
