As always, this week in City Hall legislation is mostly about Kansas City politicos focusing on the toy train streetcar above all else . . .

Here's the legislative agenda items of note so far . . .

- Ordering The City Manager To Start A Study of The Prospect Bus Rapid Transit Plan To Connect With The Toy Train . . . Because, apparently all the potholes in town are fixed.

- Toy Train Incentives: Council Dude Johnson wants bus passes and toy train rides for everybody working a job developed with city funds

More Kansas City legislative maneuvers in the making . . . STAY TUNED!!!

  1. Good.

Transit is an essential function of municipal government in a city out size.

  2. So is having less than one-third the number of murders as New York City every year, but that doesn't seem to be getting anywhere near as much attention or money.

  3. What ? Murders are way down in Killa City this year. That new police "crack down" is working wonders around the metro.

    ROFLMFAO

  4. Since Kansas City has less than a third the population of New York it's not unreasonable to expect that we'd have less than one third the murders.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Since KC is 1/3 the population of New York, it's not unreasonable to expect that we'd have 1/3 the amount of public transit infrastructure.

  6. Free transportation for about 15,000
who use the bus or light rail? Do I get free gas for my car as well.

    1. You already get heavily subsidized gas, you dipshit.
To say nothing of the 100% subsidized roads you use your car on. Subsidized by a lot of people who don't use them.

  7. What no vote for free bus rides?

  8. Since Kansas City has less than a third the population of New York it's not unreasonable to expect that we'd have one intelligent blogger not beholden to other intetests.

    But we don't.

  9. So let me get this straight. The bartenders and shot girls at P&L get free KCATA passes because P&L is tax payer subsidized?

  11. "Subsidized by a lot of people who don't use them."

Even the very few people who don't use the roads rely on them Mensa boy. Let's see you get your food to the grocery store without trucks.

  12. I wonder if Mensa boy is the same blowhard in person as he is on the internet?

  13. Would love to see the day Russ Johnson is in handcuffs and being escorted out of City Hall by two guys in suits and RayBan sunglasses.

  15. Hard-charger checking in early and often... claiming to not use roads.

Much new respect for the card-carrying mensan for growing his own food, and never ordering from Amazon.

  16. Throwback Monday - Road Rage Johnson - - Councilman Johnson chairs the city’s Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. He did not return multiple messages from FOX 4. When we showed up at his committee meeting, he left early and ducked out a back exit to avoid our cameras.

When FOX 4 tried to catch up with Councilman Johnson at his weekly business session meeting and full City Council meeting, he was a no-show two weeks in a row.

  17. @952 Shit, I am the hard charger!

    Now there is an impostor.

Or, perhaps more than one person disagrees with you.

    Dipshit.

  18. All right, we got them on the run now. This is the thread that will undo the entire project.

  19. "So is having less than one-third the number of murders as New York City every year, but that doesn't seem to be getting anywhere near as much attention or money."

    Fact check:

2013 New York City population: 8,405,837

Number of murders in 2013: 240

    2013 Kansas City population: 467,000

Number of murders in 2013: 106

Ratio of Kansas City murders to New York City murders in 2013: 44%

Murders per 100K population in New York in 2013: <.03

Murders per 100K population in Kansas City in 2013: .22

Mensa boy has never met a statistic he couldn't try to distort.

Violence and a completely broken school district... these are problems that will sort themselves out AFTER an extensive mass transit network is built!!

Why can't you folks just get with the program?!

  21. If he is using 'hard charger" as a marine, its a complement.

Makes no sense in this context.

  22. Put strippers on the streetcar. Problems solved.

  23. ath is horrible 10:47. Are you that dumb?

If there are .22 murders per 100,000 people that only adds up to about one, so we're all safe as kittens under the cookstove.

Even the FBI doesn't recommend using their UCR stats for comparison. But as a courtesy? you could use them correctly.

    talk about "distorted statistics"!

  24. monorail! monorail! the simpsons made fun of this years ago!

    ReplyDelete
  25. You are absolutely correct 12:34.

In 2013 here were 22 murders per 100K population in Kansas City compared with .03 murders per 100K in New York.

Do you consider that something to brag about? At any rate, the statement, "So is having less than one-third the number of murders as New York City every year, but that doesn't seem to be getting anywhere near as much attention or money," is patently false.

But why let facts get in the way of a good talking point?
