Could Local Internets Startup Biz Culture Save Struggling Kansas City Public Schools?!?!

KCUR engages in a bit of high-speed gigabit Internet hype optimism even though the "silicon prairie" craze hasn't really helped to create jobs: "Chief Operating Officer Carrie Markel and fellow educator Katie Boody launched The Lean Lab in 2013. Their plan? Capitalize on Kansas City's reputation as a hotspot for entrepreneurs and startups to launch new thinking around education in the city. They've already hosted a few community events, but the big work starts Monday as four fellows begin their month-long rotation at the Sprint Accelerator."

  1. KC's rep as a hot spot for start ups will never exceed it's rep for stupid, nonperforming students, graduates and piss poor educational institutions.

  4. I wish that the rulers of our lives, the media, the politicians, the Communist/Neighborhood snitches, who destroy lives, based on spurious accusations and the feeding frenzy, which, you, on this very blog, approve, would suck the Devil's Dick in Hell.

Seriously, you guys, are you kidding me?

    Fuck the blood.

    Fuck the truth.

If my family, is not getting raped, assaulted, killed, then, who gives a fuck?

Turn your head, go pick up the kids.

  8. How to fix KCPS schools:
Elect some board people who are able to manage more than a lemonade stand.
Hire some professionals who have experience running a reasonably large multi-million dollar organization and hold them accountable for the business end of the operation.
Get rid of all the insiders, consultants, trainers, and other hangers-on and focus on having the teachers actually teach the kids.
Establish high standards of behavior and remove students who can't meet them to an alternative school or other facility.
Have the parents actually parent their kids and not meddle in what's being taught and how in the schools.
    Leadership, management, teaching, students.
    Give it a try!

  9. Dissolve the District, fire the feckless administrators, and reorganize from the beginning. This district is the biggest joke west of the Mississippi. Detroit is its sister east of the Mississippi. These administrators are about not losing their six figure jobs, NOT about educating children.

  10. You guys are really going to be pissed when KCPS gets its accreditation. What will be really funny is if it winds up being full accreditation.

  11. What will be hilarious is when folks like you, obviously employees of the district or a beneficiaries of taxpayer-laundered funds, are out of jobs when this shit hole of a district is dissolved by a courageous Dr. Nicastro and DESE staff.
