"Westport Saturday night was a festival of events starting with a beer tent on Pennsylvania for the early crowd. Streets were blocked off early and plenty of room was available outside on Pennsylvania which made for a laid back evening. The weather was great and the crowds were mellow as they moved about like schools of fish through the streets last night. Traffic was less congested with Westport Road blocked off at Main and Southwest Blvd for easy access parking at Sun Fresh and Bank Of America. Dance music came from every direction with lines waiting at the usual watering holes. An eclectic cast of characters out and about this evening with exceptional weather made a good time for all that we could see!"

I remember when they condemned and claimed the old neighborhood where the condos now sit was "blighted" and used eminent domain to bulldoze everyone and their families out of their homes so Westport would become "vibrant and diverse".

You all need to get use to the new economy and understand people get together when times get difficult. Young adults have to have somewhere to go for a change of scenery. They don't have a house at the lake, country or a club membership or dozens of houses like many Kansas City folks have. But you have to give these working folks something and channeling them to Westport is the best option you have. This city runs on beer sales and it works for people who shill out 12 hour shifts too. You may bitch about paying personal income taxes while you watch the revenue come in elsewhere than at Royals Stadium on a Saturday night. It may very well be a tougher go for the beer bucks at two dollars a drink but it's steady income for the city of Kansas City, Missouri.

Yeah, 10:35, I'm sure most of the Westport crowd is just there to relieve some stress from their demanding jobs. Most of them are probably being supported by mom and dad or living on the public dole.
