TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! LOCAL CRITICS QUESTION: KANSAS CITY MAYOR SLY JAMES IS AN ARTIST?!?!

Kansas City Awards season continues and here's a notable prize worth considering . . .

KANSAS CITY MAYOR SLY JAMES WAS RECENTLY ANNOUNCED AS THE WINNER OF THE ARTS ADVOCATE AWARD!!!

Meanwhile, a local critic questions:

"Check out 'Sly-the-arts-advocate bs' just released today. Exactly what has he ever done to advocate the arts? Oh, I know: Tearing up Main Street for a toy trolley."

That's one way to look at it . . . Actually, I was thinking that Mayor Sly's ability to make people believe that KCMO wasn't going bankrupt was his finest masterpiece.

Here's the event scheduled for early next year . . .

  7. They only support the arts so the developers can decide when it's the right time to kick the artists out on the curb, and then begin the gentrification process.

  8. Mayor James is a nice guy who can say the right things behind a podium but he isn't doing much for the arts in Kansas City...Mike Burk is.

  9. ArtsKC...a bunch of bureaucrats just trying to keep their paychecks. Stretch should get the award!!

Anyone notice the similar looks between Mayor Sly and a Gorilla?

  12. Absolutely ..I always think of a long time kc resident,he passed away years ago. His name was BIG MAC. Sly looks just like him.

  13. He no doubt is enjoying the benefits of owning his own personal taxpayer ATM machine.

  14. The only thing sly is going to paint is the ass end of his Fruit of the Looms when the election results come in.

  15. Sly James has been supportive of the arts community like an obese person is a fan of everything in an all you can eat buffet. He's spending money on EVERYTHING.

What the people who gave him this award don't realize is that if he wasn't spending so much money on other economic development projects, there would be even MORE money for public art projects.

The best way to grow this city is through art, technology, and open, honest and fair Government, and he dabbles in the first two, but certainly not enough to be celebrated for it. However, that's just my opinion.

Congrats on your award thingy, Mayor.
