After reading a very recent social media post, I'm certain that Megan Westenhaver is one of the bravest women I've ever met.
To wit . . .
KANSAS CITY AREA LIBERTY ACTIVIST MEGAN WESTENHAVER CALLS OUT A FORMER BOYFRIEND VIA SOCIAL MEDIA AND SHARES HER STORY OF SURVIVAL IN A VIOLENTLY ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIP!!!
The photo is graphic and represents the tragic nature of her situation at the time. The details of her story call out her former boyfriend by name. I'm not gonna even try to go into the deets because there are two sides to every story even if the photo really speaks for itself.
For me, this is the most important passage that offers a life lesson for other women facing the same situation . . .
Megan writes: "Here is where my regrets begin. Instead of going to the police station and filing a report, I went to the Sephora counter at the Legends. I learned how to apply makeup so I could go to work the next day without too many questions. And I practiced my cover story which I would later tell my friends and family and coworkers and clients . . . I lied. I said I had been in a fight at a party (true) with a group of girls while #### was not present. I have never made a habit of lying because, quiet honestly, I am not very good at it."
Now, we profiled Megan in much better times and still believe that her work in this community holds a great deal of potential.
And just to demonstrate that this isn't just gossip among TKC friends, let's remember that The Pitch also profiled Ms. Westenhaver given that her activism was starting to make waves throughout the Kansas City area.
Here's what we're hoping . . . The shocking social media blast and public shaming of her former boyfriend might be the final part of healing for Megan as she seems to be in a much more healthy relationship and hopefully is on the way to putting this tragic time behind her.

Which, you saw how "cool" that all turned out to be. I was shocked when I saw what kind of people there are in Liberty. I never go there, never had to. Never want to. Its really far from Johnson County.

This chick, well thats a self esteem problem right there. She knows she fucked up. She never went to the cops because she thought being beat was love, or whatever. If some woman hit me or wanted to beat on me I will never talk to her again. You have to set some standards.
