As a child I lived in Houston in the early 80's. There were Mexicans everywhere and had been for a long time. I find it real interesting that this is a problem now. Since the Southern states were Republican (OK, Ann Richards was Gov. of Texas but everybody else in Texas was a Republican) they should acknowledge this is all their fault. They loved decades of low-paid illegals they could take advantage of. What did they think would happen? Let's see a bunch of Latino Catholic's. I wonder if they will breed like rabbits and vote in 40 years? And demand some civil liberties because they have such strength in numbers? Yep. That's exactly what happened. And it's all their fault.
