Weeks after some psychopath kid gunned down a room full of babies there's still nothing more than a great deal of confusion, empty rhetoric and silly political posturing regarding this issue of gun control. Never mind that white, middle-class America usually tunes out gun tragedy when it occurs anywhere else but suburbia.
Still . . .
MORE THAN ANY PLACE ELSE KANSAS CITY'S CONFLICTED AND CONTRADICTORY APPROACH TO THE TOPIC OF GUN CONTROL COMPLETELY CONFUSES THE ISSUE!!!
Just a few examples . . .
- This week Mayor Sly renewed his stance against assault rifles.
- Our KCPD Police Chief made a surprise comment endorsing the President's crackdown on assault rifles.
- However, in GOP dominated Missouri, there's a move to defy the President and allow guns in classrooms.
- Meanwhile, gun violence in Westport pretty much terrified most Midtown Kansas City denizens.
- And of course there's enough hypocrisy on both sides (especially yours) to make just about any rational person want to blow their brains out if they took this stuff seriously.
SO . . . ARE GUNS GOING TO SAVE KANSAS CITY OR KILL US ALL?!??!
Of course this blog supports 2nd Amendment rights despite the fact that most gun advocates strike me as sort of racist and simplistic in their approach to discourse.
And all of this has inspired tonight's playlist . . .
