Check the latest report of Kansas City killing as we end the year:

On 12/30/2012 at 10:30 PM officers were sent to the 1300 block of E 81st on a reported shooting.  When they arrived they found an adult man outside suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.  The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.  Homicide detectives are investigating, and anyone with information is encouraged to call the TIPS Hotline.

Again, we notice the murder trend ticking up in the South East part of our city and these shocking numbers should remind us that the our ongoing homicide problem is the most important dilemma confronting Kansas City in the new year.

Fearless prediction: Our city's political class will opine that the local crime problems are due to A) The recession B) Lack of gun control C) Violent video games--etc. etc. Note that all of these "causes" of the KCMO crime disaster of the past five years are totally not, repeat not, the doing of anyone in KCMO.     Once again, there's been another murder within blocks of a Kansas City, MO Police Station. This one occurred at 1300 E 81st Street and the Police Station sits at 75th Prospect. It looks like police stations really DO make the neighborhoods safer (sarcastically speaking, of course.)
