TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY INSIDERS EXPECTING EVEN MORE CITY HALL LAYOFFS FOR 2013!!!

It's no secret that the finances of Kansas City local government are a mess.

However, financial news doesn't have good visuals for TV reporters and Dead Tree Media is simply picking up most of their news from the wires like a blogger or just taking Mayor Sly's skillfully crafted PR word for it.

To wit . . .

KANSAS CITY INSIDERS ARE WARNING OF EVEN MORE CITY HALL LAYOFFS COMING SOON IN 2013!!!

Remember: City Hall workers haven't received a REAL pay increase in quite some time and the demands of their jobs have only increased.

Sadly, while some voters harbor resentment toward public employees, it's important to realize that fewer municipal workers quickly translates into fewer services.

In the upcoming budget . . . KCPD shouldn't take a cut because our streets are desperately in need of as many good police as possible. Fire isn't taking the hit because they're still a political juggernaut.

So, it'll be City Hall employees getting riffed and facing cutbacks that have already taken their toll on this town.

Like it or not, the political reality of this situation dictates that it might be easier for Mayor Sly to earn that 4TH TAX INCREASE we've been hinting at for quite some time.

Either way . . . Money at City Hall is running out thanks tax and spend policies along with the random $15K walking out the door with no questions asked.

Like it or not, this is the financial reality that confronts Kansas City in 2013.

  1. You forgot to mention our credit rating TKC.

Don't you think that's going to take a hit?

Look for it and remember that'll make borrowing a whole lot worse for KC projects like your toy train.

  2. Good thing they hired a budget guy to be the City Manager. That way, they will be responsible with spending.

  3. what did you expect on the layoffs. no single council person or mayor will attack the fire dept. it always falls on the lower end of city employees

  4. Exactly. The City Manager is the guy on the spot for the city finances. It doesn't matter how many assistant this and assistant that he has on hand, he's where the buck stops AND he should be made to pay. Fire that fat bastard, as soon as possible!!

With all those gift cards floating around (from Blue Cross) they should be all set for a good long while.

Let the layoffs begin! Start with the Mayor.

  7. Great! Plenty of people need to be fired at City Hall. Use whatever tactic you must to get rid of them. Hopefully, it's the more corrupt ones that get the axe.

  8. What do you expect from a busted city.

It don't work and neither will you if your employed there

  9. And they are all so honest, hardworking, and wonderful people. *cough*

Don't forget they also have infants and toddlers that run marathons and will clean up at the next Olympics. Yep, we NEED those kind of people with their genetic superiority.

Give them all 1000% raises! Sell your home, donate the money to City Hall and make us all proud.

  12. Where is the floow-up to the gift card theft?

    Will they actually be punished?

  13. This story was too long. And not worth a mushroom. Keep cutting. And cut the streetcar.

  14. Dear City Hall employee,

Over the last 10 years each of your departments have utterly failed every single public audit regarding public satisfaction. The water, street, and parks departments are leaches on the asses of society. In fact, our city continues to vomit public funds in a hope that at some point your staff will pull your heads out of your asses and begin fixing yourselves.

The KCPD needs new leadership and can cut fat, in fact, local control may be good for the department. However, the fact is Public Safety consistently scores at the highest levels of public satisfaction. With the exception of the dwindling urban core, KCPD scores extremely high with citizen satisfaction.

I would doubt that most city employees could even qualify for a position within the KCFD or KCPD. At least 250 employees just stole public funds from the health care trust by cheating the system. That money may have been paid by BC/BS but it was funded by tax payer dollars. Each and every person involved in the theft should be fired, then layoffs would not be necessary...therefore no unemployment funds would be paid to those involved.

  15. When all city depts are not being ran right you have no need for a silly ass go nowhere train that will create another dept that won't be ran right!

When you have to lay city workers off due to lack of money you have no right building a silly ass go nowhere train!

When you have to cut city services to the taxpayer due to lack of money you have no right building a silly ass go nowhere train!

So you see Sly your silly ass go nowhere train is very bad idea. You wanna be famous then you might try putting the ciy back on it's feet fixing it up the right way then you will go down in history as the Mayor who saved KC. No instead you want to be the Mayor who goes down in history skiming extra cash off the city for your pockets and your friends pockets and driving what is left of what was a good city the rest of the way into the ground.

  16. If the right people got riffed, it wouldn't be so bad. Unfortunately, that's not usually the case. With an inept HR department and lawyers who lose wrongful termination lawsuits, good employees are let go while non-productive ones are kept.

Every single employee, whether management or not, who cheated on the Blue Cross gift cards should be fired!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Dear KCPD Employees.

Where the fuck have you been?
Why fire the city employees involved in the Blue Cross gift cards scam?

When your fucking KCPD command staff were charging lavish dinners to the the Taxpayers ath the Capital Grille how many commanders got fired? NONE! ZERO!
All they did was a repayment of what they stole each kept there jobs.
KCPD are a bunch of hypocrites.

    ReplyDelete
  18. There were no laws broken with the dinner, not a single one. In fact, I will support you completely if you can name it...in state or federal statute. Chief Corwin was on record saying that he allowed the dinner, so the people that used the credit card did exactly what they were allowed to do.

Can the thieves in city hall say the same?

    WTF????

In all, Lewis and Stewart charged about $7,000 last year in meals, gas and other expenses for about 80 days' worth of work between them. They also charged about $5,000 for lodging. In 2009, they charged about $7,600 in meals and expenses and about $6,000 in lodging.

    7000.00 IN MEALS!!!!
Most minimum wage workers don't make that in a year!!!
And your KCPD mind set can justify this for ONE person?
    FUCK YOU!

As so do city employees tweet about it you hypocrite! Do you perhaps know there are only an average of 7-8 coppers patroling your district at any given time? The reality is KCPD is at the bare minimum for staffing and no one cares to address it. 8 x 6 districts = 48 on-duty good guys trying to patrol a city of 324 square miles at any given time against a bad guy number triple that. I'm talking just patrol and if you call 911 and want the police. We have too many peeps in specialized units doing nothing.

    Why blame the City?
KCPD prides itself on being run by the State.
Take your fricken problems to the Board of Police Commissioners.
City Employees report to the Mayor.
NOT KCPD if your so under staffed talk to the Governor.

Didn't "blame" anyone if you noticed and was critical of the department itself... Get it straight!

  28. Simple, fire the 80+ folks who are guilty of fraud again Blue Cross

  29. One of the places where layoffs are needed is the bloated KCPD command staff. The city could save a ton of money by getting rid of some of these do nothing idiots.
