KANSAS CITY HOMICIDE #90!!! TRAGIC DOUBLE SHOOTING LEAVES ONE DEAD IN KANSAS CITY THIS SATURDAY MORNING!!!
Forget the pseudo science regarding warm weather homicides . . . During this cold spell that quotient of violence on Kansas City streets continues to escalate:
1 dead, 1 injured in shooting in KC
Unofficially, but checking with KCPD crime stats . . . This puts us at 90 homicides so far this year and doing slightly worse than last year's totals despite hotspot policing efforts, new technology and a bevy of departmental shake-ups under the administration of the new Chief.

The troops ain't gonna do shit, until some changes are made for the better.......oh wait, the KCFOP just guaranteed some raises for some. That should motivate some of the younger guys/gals. Hell with the hefty raises the Sgt's are getting, they should be out there bustin their asses as well.

Homicide count is at least 90--two people in hospital in critical condition; one from today's shooting and one from a shooting a couple of days ago. Last year we were at 88 at this time. Time for "usual suspects" to start pontificating that the city's out-of-control violence is due to 1) The recession 2) Lack of gun control 3) Youth demographics. Put differently, the city's political class bears no responsibility for the city's crime disaster. Yawn. And the political class wonders why the public despises them. Take care. ReplyDeleteThe public may despise the KCMO political class, but they vote for the same kind of people, or in many cases even the SAME people time after time.
ReplyDeleteAs long as the most important question is "what are you going to run for next?" instead of "What are you doing to govern the city?", nothing's going to change.
And all the hundreds of millions of dollars dumped into downtown aren't going to do a thing to change the downward trend of the city.
Fortunately for residents of the metro, there are plenty of other places to live, do business, send your kids to school, and enjoy life.
The Shot Spotter is only placed along a few of the most heavily travelled bus routes for the KC ATA. They are not placed in many of the most violent neighborhoods because KC ATA got the grant and not the PD. In the grant, it states that it must go along the bus routes. From what I've heard the Shot Spotter hasn't been very effective and helpful to the PD yet.

ReplyDeleteAlso the other issue is that the media in KC are such pussies about reporting the truth, the real truth and nothing but the truth no matter whose toes get stomped on.
The Star thinks making us think their way is the answer and since they appear to be clueless anymore thats a no win solution.
All media, TV and Paper need to be all over the Mayors, Council Members, Police Chiefs, City,County,State Prosecutors and County Sheriffs 24hrs a day seven days a week till change takes place.
They need to be ruthless about this task and well take no prisoners or bullshit either.
Media and the voters could make a change. But anymore I really wonder if anyone wants change. I hear a lot of talk but I see damn little action about it.
Then get the fat ass developers fingers out of the taxpayers tax cache and use that money for the residents who live there not those you think might want to come and vist. Fix the cities and make the residents all excited and loving where they live and the vistors will come to check it out. If developers think they have a project worth building them let them build it using their own money and some banks money. Make them pay taxes the same as everyone else does and then sit bck and see what the cities around here could be like.

ReplyDeleteWell the Westside residents should start getting the support and extra police presence that they have been denied thus far this year. At a community meeting back in the spring, Chief Forte said that the Westside will not be getting any additional patrols like the Hotspot areas are because there have not been any homicides over here. Regardless of the fact that aggravated assaults on the Westside are very prevalant and gang activity is increasing by the week, Forte should be true to his word now and work with the Westside residents. It seems like Forte is a one way street when it comes to cooperation with the public. He expects communication from the residents but won't work with them to better their neighborhoods.

If you gave every one of them a million dollars they would still be just as violent, if not worse.
