Yesterday's outpouring of chicken support was big news . . . But we feel like the pushback didn't get enough play.
Think about it:
Missouri sets a pretty horrible example for tolerance of the LGBT Community.
Thankfully, local publications like CampKC offer an alternative voice and important perspective on Kansas City area LGBT reaction to this fight over chicken and politics . . . Here's our favorite recent article: Hamburger Mary’s serves up “Hate-Free” Chicken Sandwich
Accordingly . . .
CHECK THE KANSAS CITY LGBT CHICK-FIL-A COUNTER PROTEST CAPTURED BY CAMPKC!!!

Kudos to local performer Daisy Buckët for leading the charge . . . And the CHICKEN DANCE to oppose intolerance.

Take a look at the entire photo set at Camp KC's facebook page.
Make a straight person puke and piss themselves: Vote for SarahG!
ReplyDeleteThe gay community is so much larger than just a few extremists pictured above. As a gay male, I just need to not spend my money at this business. If straights do, then cool!
ReplyDeleteSarah Gillooly, the hate expressed by your supporters and the huge special interest contribution from corporate school advocates really changed my view of you. You are not Jolie Justus.
ReplyDeleteMy question is why if someone doesn't believe it what some others think is ok is it hate? Can't we have different opinions? I say no where that Chik-fil-a said they wouldn't serve gays, but the CEO just didn't believe in gay marriage. Big deal let it go and go buy something pretty
ReplyDeleteYou stinking fags and dykes should just go away. Wasn't there an island somewhere? Lykos or Dykos or something? Well, there should be. You are vile, rotten and diseased people.
ReplyDeleteI do not see how making the community look ridiculous by acting silly in public helps Civil Rights.
ReplyDeleteAlso to the SarahG person. Not all straight people are bigots. There are many straight people who speak out and stand up for equal rights. I am proud and pleased to have their help.
Well, extremists, 6:44 shows you what you get when you get in people's faces with your self-indulgent theatrics. Like black kids wilding on the plaza. It's not really working for them much, don't you agree?
ReplyDeleteAnd I don't think this shock stuff is working for YOUR cause either.
Tolerance is a two-way street. This is a First Amendment issue. Mr. Cathey is free to say what he wants, and you are free to patronize his business or not. If ~straights~ started boycotting "gay-friendly" businesses, how long would they stay in business? JCPenney's isn't doing too well right now, is it?
ReplyDeleteMost of us straights just don't care what you do in your private life. Crying for attention like a 2-year-old throwing a temper tantrum is not helping your cause.
As a volunteer organizer for LGBT equality for nearly than 30 years, I do not think "silly-drama" counter demonstrations and "Gay candidates" for office help the community or the cause of Equality. Advancement has come through serious and level-headed work, which fosters a sense of Equality rather than shock value.
ReplyDelete6:38 and 7:35 have it nailed.
ReplyDeleteI have no problems with the gays at all.
Hangin your hat on this remark by a guy who runs a chicken joint makes you look a whiny petualnt pain in the ass, who deserves some ridicule.
Since when are Drag Queens raised to the level of drama? My partner and I have not gone to a Drag Show for entertainment in the 32 years we have been together. We would go to a 8th Grade production of Death of a Salesman before we waisted money on a Drag Show. Of course, we do not drink beer from a bucket either.
ReplyDeleteAs for Ms. Gillooly it has become abundently clear that she lacks the maturity to serve in government at this point in her life. Equality means holding people to the same standards, and Ms. Gillooly simply does not meet that standard.
Are all these protesters on welfare, unemployment, or a trust fund?
ReplyDeleteThese "gay" freaks are just another sign of the destructive times we are living in. They are worthless, non-procreative, vile, filthy, Godless, empty creatures, worthy of all the scorn they bring on themselves.
ReplyDeleteMarketing can not only convince you your gay, but just about everything and anything else also.
ReplyDelete8:31
ReplyDeleteActuall, in my experience, the gays pay their bills, work hard, are very intelligent and conversant.
Look, if ya got moral problems with what they do in the privacy of their own homes, I can't help ya.
They are, for the most part, excellent citizens in my opinion.
The problem here is the over reaction to the comments from some guy who runs a chicken chain.
Hey! Chicken Chain runnin all day.
Chicken Chain runnin all day.
I get on
Then I sure get off.
Chicken Chain sellin chickens
all day.
Chicken Chain don't like the
gays.
Chicken Chain don't like the
Gays.
I get on
then I sure get off.
Chicken Train take your gays
away.
But I digress.
The gays are WAY over reacting.
I wonder if there are any gay guys in the Ozark Mountain Daredevils?
One man is being attacked for stating his beliefs. How is this tollerance? The LGBT act like this guy is the same as Phelps. The LGBT dropped the ball on this one.
ReplyDeleteThe big picture has nothing to do with LGBT and/or religious issues. EVERYONE REGARDLESS OF POLITICAL AFFILIATION should be fearful of the actions of the mayors of Chicago, Boston, San Francisco, etc to restrict, ban, remove, etc businesses because someone in that business has beliefs contrary to theirs. The LGBT community should be especially fearful and concerned of such activity. It might be okay now that it involves something you support. What if the tables turn?
ReplyDelete1035 hits it on the head. pun intended. When elected officials and govt. reps begin to dictate who can and cant do business in their city or state, it is a huge problem. The irony in this chicken chokin debacle, the zealots on both sides of this debate sound EXACTLY alike. The I hate homos people sound exactly like the in your face Straight people suck crowd. The gays should keep in mind that they only make up a tiny single digit percentile of the Country. Keep pushing outrageous grandstanding tactics, and the push back will be more than they can withstand. So stop flipping off presidential portraits when you are invited to the white house. Stop showing your ass with drag queen protests and in your face displays of making out in public places, and then you might be treated with some respect and credibility.
ReplyDelete10:35 and 10:59 on teh money.
ReplyDeleteChekc out this gay black guy, whom, I think, is more representative of the attitude that most gays have.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUmoTOujJ7Q&feature=player_embedded
Dude LOVES the waffle fries.
10:35, I don't know if you're a dude or a gal, but I love you.
ReplyDeleteYour comment was spot on!!
Who cares what the CEO of Chick-Fil-A thinks. I really do not like their product so I don't go to them.
ReplyDeleteThe funny thing to me is the way people are his right of freedom of speech and it is his right to say what he wants to say. I agree with that as well. But where was all this public outrage for the Dixie Chicks and their freedom of speech. Just because you agree with the statement does not make right to speak out. We should defend the freedom of speech no matter what is said and we should always defend that right.
The difference between Chick Filet and the Dixie Chicks is the owner of Chick Filet is not the product. If he took your order and bashed gays then it would be similar to the Dixie Chicks. I don't have a problem with performers stating their opinion but I pay for them to perform, not pontificate.
ReplyDeleteWhy don't they just start a chain of Dick-Filets and feature fish tacos? Problem solved.
ReplyDeleteA ban on gay marriage violates the equal protection clause. Eventually, a Supreme Court will have to rule thus. I'm sure Roberts would agree.
ReplyDeleteA ban on a business due to their political/religious views is a violation of the 1st Amendment. Pretty sure that the mayors of Chicago, Boston, etc. should know that. For them to threaten to refuse a business license to any business because the views of the owner of the business are not in lock-step with said mayor is wrong. Those mayors should be removed from office for even attempting to violate the 1st Amendment and for basicially failing Civic 101.
ReplyDeleteI wanna marry my Chicken......
ReplyDeleteByron you ignorant slut!
ReplyDeleteThe short answer is that, thus far, gays and lesbians have not been considered a suspect class by the Supreme Court; laws impacting them are today subject only to the lowest level of scrutiny.
The constitution applies to all Americans, even the ones you don't like.
ReplyDeleteWhat I like and don't like you idiot has nothing to do with the law or laws as they stand today you moron.
ReplyDeleteBYRON - WTF
ReplyDeleteEqual protection clause? First of all what in the hell has
Chic-fil-a done that could be considered threatening that required protection? They HAVE A BELIEF and they stand behind it. A BELIEF written in a BOOK ( or an interpretation of the book) that came far before the G&L movement and election driven politics. THEY HAVE NOT REFUSED SERVICE to anyone. They have not discriminated they have simply and by their own right taken a stance in a religious topic. PLUS if there is any definition of marriage it was written in the religious context FAR before it ever became a gay issue. This is the exact damn problem with this country is liberal and conservative fanatics not leaving people the FUCK ALONE. Because two people of the same sex feel they are entitled to some status they feel it has to have it beat down everyone's DAMN throat. They have a lifestyle it is their right to that lifestyle but it doesn't entitle them to stomp all over the opinion, and conviction of any other individual or business. MORE DISTURBING is that our political moron's feel they have apply their pressure to someone's free speech right. Thats a short jump from politics tell you, me, our neighbors what the hell we should be believing as individuals.
Oops Byron now you done gone and pissed someone off again.
ReplyDeleteI was referring to the ban on gay marriage.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I don't care if I piss off people who call me names. Duh.
ReplyDeleteByron is too smart for most readers on here (and too smart for his brother too.)
ReplyDeleteKill it with fire.
ReplyDeleteThe best thing that could happen to Chick-Fil-A is a permanent fag boycott. Please let it be.
