TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! MAYOR SLY AND CITY COUNCIL SNEAK THROUGH CONTROVERSIAL KANSAS CITY ORDINANCES DURING ALL-STAR WEEK!!!

One of the most KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS reminds us that politicos never miss an opportunity to take advantage of a distracted electorate and media.
To wit . . .
CHECK OUT HOW MAYOR SLY AND THE CITY COUNCIL ARE WORKING FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE BIG BIZ, MORE TAXES AND THE ELITE WHILE KANSAS CITY REMAINS DISTRACTED BY BASEBALL!!!

Check this EXCLUSIVE and awesome testimony:
"While the city is busy with the All-Star game many important issues could be moving the day after the game.
"The billboard issue of maintaining the 2007 ordinance is in jeopardy."
"CID reform, is important given the fact that almost every retail business district has extra taxes to subsidize business."
"On Wednesday morning the TIF commission is to hear a proposal called Project Apple. This is a TIF in one the most prosperous areas of the city. On Carondelet Drive across from St. Joseph Medical Center, on the west side of State Line Road is Hallbrook, north on 103rd Street is a Lexus car dealership. What about economic development East of Troost? The EDC are trying to fast-track this scam."

Check out the the P&Z Docket for ordinance numbers on just a few of these scams perpetrated while Kansas City's is watching an old school pastime.
That's the way it usually works.
ReplyDeleteThere's not going to be any economic development east of Troost until the violence and murders are seriously curbed and not much is really being done to see that that happens.
ReplyDeleteThere have already been millions of dollars spent on "projects" like Citadel Plaza and 18th and Vine and there is preciious little to show for any of it.
Who's going to invest their money and risk the lives of their employees in an area where violence is a part of daily life?
Why don't you open a shop there, T, and tell us what happens?
Closet racists
DeleteSOS has nailed it. Quit whining, Tony.
ReplyDeleteSOS: There were no millions spent on Citadel Plaza Project, and you know it! The millions were spent on settling a lawsuit because the funding was never provided.
ReplyDeleteYou can't just make up facts to support bigoted opinions.
SOS has some"secrets*,can't play games with folks lives!
ReplyDeleteName me one white person who is willing to venture east of Troost to spend money. Or for that matter any Latino's. There is no reason to sink money in a place where you are either going to get robbed or shot. I'm with everybody else Tony. Why don't you quit the constant bitching and get your fat ass over there and do something. Take Alonzo with you. You could call it a cheap date.
ReplyDeleteMaybe if we sent all black males to military school from age 14 to age 28, they'll come out more disciplined, more educated and not spend the second half of their lives in prison.
ReplyDeleteAdmittedly though, military school is a little like prison but hey, why waste time waiting for them to commit crimes? And think of all how many fewer fatherless children will be born to poverty!
I attended a local festival last Friday night, the usual type with lots of rides for the kids and carnies pushing stupid games with no takers. The real shocker was the fact that you couldn't tell the carnies from the crowd. Almost every person was covered in tattoos, obese and ugly as sin. The kids were as horrifying as the adults where all the boys were dressed up like gang-bangers and the girls looked like drug addicted Eastern Jack whores. If that's the future, then there isn't much of one.
ReplyDelete8:11: I frequently shop at the Thriftway on 63rd St. and the Apple Mart on EC II. Last time I checked I was a person without color.
ReplyDeleteLame
DeleteThere is no excuse for giving tax dollars to developers in wealthy areas. Has give-it-away Kay come back as an advisor or something?
ReplyDeleteThe problem is that NO ONE wants to locate anything East of Troost. You could give someone a free company there and they would decline to take it. Investing in the wasteland is a joke. They need to forget about it, slowly let it die, and then rebuild it in 25 years.
ReplyDeleteJust do away with TIFs everywhere. At the least the politicians have no clue about development, at worst they are simply bought off.
ReplyDeleteniggers just waste the money, the ones that get the loot just find a way to put it in dey own pockets!
ReplyDeletePray tell, T -- how is this sneaky? The agenda is freely available online. It can be accessed by anyone, up to and including 40-something putos who still live in their mom's basement.
ReplyDeleteMoreover, the agenda was published online six days ago. Why are you just writing about it now?
8:36; are you clear or see-thru or invisible?
ReplyDeleteWhen millions of dollars are spent on Citadel Plaza, and actually there will be MORE spent than origanlly planned because a bond was issued for the $24 million, so the cost will end up being somewhat over $30 million, that money is coming out of the city's general fund for another 15 years and is money that is spent FOR NOTHING.
ReplyDeleteSOS was right on the money and anyone who wants to try to justify something as ridiculous as Citadel Plaza is not really looking out for what could help east side residents.
And the comment on TIFs is right too. All this public money subsidizing projects in wealthy areas is a waste and unnecessary.
Caucasian is a "color" so fuck off.
ReplyDeleteWar veterans are rallying for purple hearts for PTSD!! Are you fucking kidding me? The narcissism in this country is unrivaled in human history.
ReplyDeleteI think caucasian is a race. White is a color.
ReplyDeleteTiff Hallbrook? You can't be serious.
ReplyDeleteOK genius. So the Council doesn't meet this week and then douches like you complain that they're sluffing off. Bitch, bitch, bitch!
ReplyDeleteYou cannot give enough money away to a business to locate east of Troost. You need incentives to attract businesses even to well off areas.
ReplyDeleteSuch is the sad state of Kansas City's economic competitiveness.
More Hallbook Tif please!
ReplyDeleteIf you need incentives to locate business everywhere in KCMO why not just cut taxes for all business and cut out the attorneys and politicians? Oh I forget, that's the entire purpose of incentives.
ReplyDeleteSomebody has to pay (suckers).
ReplyDeleteThis deal stinks to high heaven. So glad I don't live in KC.
ReplyDeleteReally curious to see how the Mayor is going to sell his new taxes with boondoggles like this.
