More about local diversity efforts from Chief Forte's blog:
"With 582 of them, females comprise 29.2 percent of KCPD employees department-wide. That includes non-sworn, civilian staff. Females comprise just 14 percent of our law enforcement officers, and we are working to increase that number.
"In fact, one of my priorities is to increase diversity of all kinds throughout the department. It’s not just a men-and-women issue, nor is it just a black-and-white issue. We want department members who were raised in different ways and who know different things. They need to have a few things in common, though: be of high integrity and have a desire to serve the residents of Kansas City and keep them safe."

Yeah... having gang bangers as Cops is a great idea. So much for diversity. How about hiring the MOST QUALIFIED for the job instead of looking at color or body parts.

ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of people who will not trust men, especially, the homeless, the poor & women in general. White men are not automatically the most qualified, unless you want to pretend that everyone who isn't a police officer is a criminal. If your intention is a police state, then hire only large white men. They make good bullies.

ReplyDeleteWe need professional, effective police officers Byron. This push for minorities and women is a load. Every cop who is good at their job can be effective with all populations. There's this bizarre push for diversity that has nothing to do with having a great department. Find the best, whatever sex or race they are, that's what I want when I call the police. I don't give a shit what demographic that person who comes to my aid is part of, I just want great service. Apparently America will never get past skin color or sex, and that includes everyone. There's no bad guy here, we're all guilty.

Way to go, getting right at the core of all the issues at the KCPD. Meanwhile, the BPC is asleep at the wheel.
